Status: offline 		Here we go again, record flooding in western WA.  Right now you can't get to or from western WA except by air due to flooding and avalanches. This is about the 3rd or 4th "hundred year flood" in the last 10 yrs. I hope everyone who lives here is ok.  Fortunately we live on a hill.  A lot of families had just recovered from a major flood 2 years ago and another one two months ago.

This is becoming a yearly thing for you. I was through that area after the flooding in 2007 and the reminders that were all around were just amazing. My thoughts are with you!

We spent most of today driving around the areas near us.  For those familiar with it here is what we saw:

The Snoqualmie River is above the wide part of the supports for the bridge in Fall City, it's just a few feet below the bottom of the bridge.  The town of Snoqualmie had water in the downtown area (first time I've seen that) as well as most residential areas.  The only way into town is over Snoqualmie Ridge.  No power in the downtown area.

Snoqualmie Falls has the most water I have ever seen going over it and we always stop and take pictures there when it is flooding.  We heard it's 52,000 cu. ft of water per second going over the falls.

They were doing helicopter rescues in the area between Fall City and Snoqualmie because some houses were breaking apart.

No access to the town of Carnation, record flood levels there and all roads in are underwater.

Some residential areas around North Bend are flooded.

All the farms along hwy 202 and 203 are underwater, could hardly see their fences.

That's what we saw, but I know all of western WA anywhere near a river is flooded.  I-5 is closed in the Fife area and Chehalis area.  All of the mountain passes are still closed.  There was a major avalanche that damaged 8 cabins at one of the ski areas.  Also there are numerous mud slides everywhere.

I haven't heard much about Vancouver or Oregon, but I would think they are pretty wet there.  I know it's very bad around Snohomish, Elma, Chehalis and Rochester. The only river I've heard about in Eastern WA is the Yakima and it doesn't flow through the Wenatchee area.  I'm sure rivers there are high but we aren't getting much news about it.

The mountain passes and I-5 re-opened today so the truckers are happy.

People always ask me "how can you handle living in Seattle...I hear it rains ALL the time there!!!!"

To which I respond..."that's a complete lie...it does NOT rain here all the time!!!  There are always 3 days in August that are perfectly dry".
