Fannie: I use a sterilized blade on the upper chest, or the inner forearm. Just enough to draw blood and no more. Tried it Lynnxz: All other treatments have been found ineffective. Granna Fluffy: The usual treatment for my type of anemia and my condition is Vitamin supplements. I dont absorb them, since my anemia is seated in my bone marrow, not my blood. One needs iron to make blood, but needs B and selenium and mangenese and such to absorb the iron to make blood. I dont absorb from vitamins, and injections dont work much, because my anemia is in my marrow. So, the next option is IV transfusion. This is where my porphyria fucks that up. For some reason, in order to get 2 units to take, they have to give me 8 units of blood. It HURTS. My doc is an old school doc, and told me that before IV transfusion was so widely accepted for people with anemia like mine, they would tell the patient to consume beef blood. I did that for a while. All it did was stabilize me. ( My iron level was 7, it should be 14 ) I did some research and found way back when, Pernicious Anemia was treated by consuming blood of willing donors. I began that, and now my levels hover around a 10.
