Status: offline 		I'm no pro, but I do design web sites. It isnt a talent everyone has, so I am guessing if someone can they will do so themselves and if they cant they either hire help or get a friend or servant take care of it.

I do websites (gratuitous plug: www.thefrugalsite.com)

Many dommes prefer to do their own site because they want the control.  Others prefer to have it done for them so that they (the domme) doesn't have to work about things like link exchanges and SEO.

Status: offline 		Well, I make a living doing programming and I'm pretty hardcore. My guess would be ... what do you want on the site.

If you just want a site with information, there are some good tools that will allow you to put that information out there in a fairly easy manner (say, the complexity of word and excel). If you want more functionality, they you need more skills. Now this is just the technical skills. There is also the graphics and the layout. So it can be simple or extremely complex, using databases, email and other functions.

In short, what do you want to do on the website and how do you want it to look?
Buy a simple program and put some pictures and text out .. that is one solution.
Buy a content management system (much more expensive) and put a more complex site out there.
Program the whole site and make it cutting edge ... more time consuming and much more technical.
Your choice.

Status: offline 		We design websites but the contract we have with our hosting service doesn't allow for any porn.  So however you do it, be sure you understand your host's TOS.

Status: offline 		Not a pro, but I did it for fun once (yeah I was a geek..) ..it aint that difficult to make a fancy website if you know basic html and/or have the program to do it...as long as it's not some site using flash stuff I never got the hang of it (..never bothered putting it online though so I don't know how the hosting process works)

...I liked Dreamweaver the best out of the programs I tried.

They have great service but the website has so much going on that it ends up being very clunky and counterintuitive.  But I have never had a website hosted by them go down and I have used them for nearly 15 years.

As a Dom, I could be for hire but the fees would be astronomical. 

I designed and built my site. 
I am a professional web designer and SEO but again, my fees are astronomical.

Status: offline 		Don’t duck . . .   I might miss.  Besides, doing it for free is good is good for your soul.  I have done the same.  I am really quite philanthropic despite my “astronomical fees” comments.  Since the 70s I have donated my time and effort to the alt & BDSM communities helping with events, publications and occasionally acting as a spokesman to the media. 

Recently, I sat on the board and acted as Webmaster for the Sarasota Society BDSM group from 2000 - 2005.  I built the site, donated the hosting, sponsored their dungeon parties when they were at Master's Quest in Tampa and I used my CC to reserve the private rooms at the Steak & Ale for the munches.  My slaves and corporation’s office staff acted as party hostesses and generated newsletters.  Besides building Sarasotasociety.com, I built and donated several years of hosting to a slew of personal and public BDSM oriented sites.  However, I studied SEO and built my own corporations’ commercial web sites which was very financially rewarding.  That is why people had to bribe me to work on their non BDSM commercial sites.  It’s a lot of work to get the SEO right.

A draft of my personal site I have stashed in private folder with “Disallow: /” robots.txt to keep it out of the search engines.  It’s HUGE already.  It has 93 MP3s, 50+ pages and dozens of movies.  I may never move it to the root and publish it if I don’t get enough free time to finish it. I still have to finish my video, the forms, the animated cartoon about perverted nuns called “My Kind of Religion”, several java games to load like “balls all the same” and “chest” (nekked slaves in gas masks as chess pieces).

I was experimenting with animation when did this test site and made that video about her.  The home page and all the banners have non-flash animation experiments.  The video on her site doesn’t allow the high quality option like YouTube does.  Show Me The Monkey  (Click for video The high quality option link is under the video on the right.)

The link above is a back up of the version I built.  They had to drop all the java & front page news when I quit so now their site looks like this.  However, it remains # 5 in yahoo.com for “Florida BDSM”.

FireWhip.com
I built this as a gift for my very good friend who designed a fire bullwhip & fire floggers. I did everything including artwork and many of the photos.  I also did the SEO (search engine optimization) and if you search yahoo.com for “fire poi” he is #2 in the free listing beat out only by wikipedia.com.  He is also on the first page of the free listing in google.com.  SEO is a real pain in the butt!

**argh  -  i just went into one of my sites - and i saw fake links everywhere - links to ipchanging - gaming etc.....and it is so annoying when people do these things and ruin hours of work....the robots also have caused me headaches, but at least those are kept out now...

...but i ducked so You would miss...*ponders*...should i unduck, then?? *L*

what is wrong with those web designers either they come up with astronomical fees...or with "I have no time" (like my ex used to say...well, he never said it about that topic, but that was every 2nd sentence from him in general, so he would have said it if I would have asked him about that, too...)

My slave designed it and updates it a few times a year. My husband puts it up and manages the technical things about it.

So very true!  Master and i had Our own website via geocities.  We bought the domain and paid a small yearly fee.  There wasn't any porn, but it had a disclaimer on the main page just to cover Ourselves.  Our site was basically for Us as a place to post my artwork, stories, and poetry.  As more visitors came and developed a fan base, We provided information about BDSM, its many facets and types of play.  Then about 4 years later, after Yahell changed its policies, Our site was shut down without notice.
