The DFW Leather Community lost one of it's own at a New Year's Eve party before Midnight arrived.  KingSnake had just walked off the dance floor when he passed out, after coming too and drinking a bit of fluids, he expired shortly afterward and couldn't be revived by friends or paramedics.

He was a 56 y/o Master who gave much to the DFW community.  A friendly and approachable man, KingSnake welcomed many into the lifestyle community here, including me.  He was known for his kind eyes, warm smile and most of all his loving bear hugs that the girls would line up for and something the men always made certain they received as well when they saw him too!  His smooth shaved bald head attracted attention from the ladies as did his signature garb he wore at many events: his kilt; with the ladies always asking him if he had anything on underneath.

He was a member of numerous organizations here including NLA, DFW-Power Exchange, DFW-Bound and others.  He was always volunteering as a DM or to do something; organizing security at last fall's Beyond Vanilla, volunteering with South Plains Leather Festival, a greeter every month at the 4th Friday munch and many other things too numerous to mention here.

KingSnake, a Vietnam veteran, is survived by 2 sons and a mother.  The DFW leather community is organizing a memorial service on his behalf.  Details are not known at this time.  His remains have been cremated by his family and no showing or other public service will occur.  As more information becomes known on the service I'll post it in this thread and in the Upcoming Events Forum.

His loss to our community is profound; a pair of shoes too big to be filled by one person.  I rarely saw him without a smile on his face.  He was always willing to talk to anyone, even someone he's just met, about anything they needed share.

KingSnake was a good friend to me personally and I'll greatly miss him in my life.   We had many talks about deeply personal things we shared with each other that I'll remember for many years to come.  In my experience, it's not often one meets a Master in this lifestyle who accepts a submissive male as an a friend and an equal like he did with me.  I've been grieving with many tears and more ever since I heard the news early on New Year's day as have many others who knew my friend.

I am so sorry!!  I never got to meet KingSnake in person, but my friends that lived in Dallas spoke very highly of him.

How sad Pixel.  It sounds like this will be a huge loss to the community and to his family and friends.  My thoughts are with you at the sad time of your friends passing.

thankyou for letting us know

That's exactly why I posted about the loss of KingSnake here TN.  Those in our community who don't or can't keep up with all of the local lists (like me when I get especially busy) where information about his passing was crossposted, may not yet know of his passing.  He was indeed a really great guy who will be sorely missed.

Thank you Francine and wandersalone for your kind and supportive posts.

Thanks to all for the added posts and.  For those in the DFW area who wish to celebrate the life of KingSnake and mourn his passing with those who loved him, here are the details:

"Please join us as the DFW kink community gathers from 7 to 10 p.m. this Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Sanctuary in Dallas to mourn the passing, and celebrate the life of, our beloved friend Robert Epps – Kingsnake – who was an active, vital, integral part of our community and our lives. We will start at 7 p.m. with an hour to visit with one another and share our memories. The ceremony itself will begin promptly at 8 p.m. We encourage everyone who so chooses to do so to come in their Fetish Finest – kilts, corsets, full leather, latex, rope dresses, or any other fetish wear. We all know how KingSnake loved the fetish lifestyle, and we celebrate that. Please, however, do arrive in street-appropriate attire, and change there if need be. We thank Master Steven for graciously offering up the Sanctuary for this gathering. Anyone who would like to contribute by bringing some finger food to share would be welcome to do so."

I look forward to seeing those in the community here who are able to attend.  I'm trying to make arrangements at this time for my UM's to stay with their mom as I'd normally have them for that night.

I'm sorry for your loss.

ETA....  I think we've spoken privately about the way I felt when Ms Beverly died.  I remember her so fondly that I could describe the moment I met her as clearly as yesterday.  There was something about the look on her face and the smile in her eyes.

Many people come and go in this life.  That's the way of things.  However, some people will stand out in the memory for a lifetine.  Ms Beverly was one of these.
