It is amazing how many men lie about their age!
I know a male on this site, that I chatted with in 2002, {on another website}.

He was 39 in 2002, and he finally RECENTLY changed the age on his CollarMe profile to 40.
I would say his pictures are about 10 years old also, he is on here every day.
I just laugh and tease him.

How can we demand honesty from total strangers?

If, after some connection is made, AND we plan to meet, then I might "expect" more.

I've seen this a lot in the ads, too. Some men post their age as "40ish" and then say they're really 55....they're just looking for "40ish" women and they want to show up in their searches.  Or, the 20 year old photograph is the primary one, and they get progressively older in the secondary photos.  Or, they say, "Oops, somehow my age got listed as 38, I'm really 52 and I can't change it!"   Or, they wear a baseball cap over their bald head. Or, they post 18 photos with the same facial expression and dazzling smile, just with different backgrounds and clothing.  "Damn, don't I look good?"

I've had men get snippy with me because my hair wasn't the same style as in the photo.  Like I get a new one taken every time I get a haircut.  I have one very flattering photo of myself in a party hat that I do share a lot.  One guy wouldn't answer my well-thought-out introductory email until I sent him a photo without the hat.  Yes, I have 666 tattooed on my forehead.[:-]  (I didn't send one or write back)

I understand how looks are important, but it's too bad they can't be a LITTLE less important and peoples' personalities and character can be a little MORE important.  But, it's still mostly all about what you look like in the photo, and the photos aren't to give a general idea of what you look like, you'd better look EXACTLY like that!

Tart!  Sigh...my kind of guy....[:D]

And never apologise for being pervy.  If I did that, I'd spend my whole life saying sorry!

T1981 -> RE: Pet Peeve (1/1/2009 1:41:28 PM)

I don't know about a pet peeve, really, but I think it's odd when people have a laundry list of that uber fantasy slave or master and nothing about the reality of their lives or what they are looking for. The idea of a fantasy is great, but as I told someone else, real people make for way better sex.

There was one really cool profile, though, that started out as a fantasy list, and then said "But back here on this crazy little planet we call Earth, here's what I really need:" and was very realistic and frank. It was a great read.

utopicus -> RE: Pet Peeve (1/1/2009 1:52:12 PM)

Yeah, in profile it says the age is 35, but in messages brusquely jumps to 42 - oh dear, I was under the impression that only in fairy tales people grew older so fast...

AScentofDarkness -> RE: Pet Peeve (1/1/2009 1:59:32 PM)

When you work in a place like I do 263 days out of the year, I am dressed to impress. So the other 102 days out of the year I love my grungy clothes.

I am sure Megan Foxx can make a pair of sweats look good.

Hippiekinkster -> RE: Pet Peeve (1/1/2009 2:24:40 PM)

I hae a pic of me from 35 years ago, when my hair was about 3 inches longer than it is now. It's more a political statement than anything else. I don't think anyone would mistake it for the current 55 year old me. I'm told I'm still easy on the eyes.

Not so much on CM I don't think, but on other venues, particularly one very popular chat that uses avatars it's probably a good guess that more often than not the woman your chatting with is really a guy.  At least a 20 or 30 year old picture of the person might suggest gender...but I guess even that's faked often on the internet too.  Not a problem if just chatting and bantering over politics or whatever..more meaningful if you ever really want to meet someone.

eh...I just compromised and used a current pic of myself. It isn't me in sweats or me in a tux, just my every day wear!

PanthersMom -> RE: Pet Peeve (1/1/2009 6:41:19 PM)

maybe we'll get some new pics taken and put them up but i'm in no hurry.  basically the only thing that has changed about me in the last five years is that i'm in the wheelchair now.  makes me shorter then i guess, lol!  we're not big on pictures, never have been.  cub and i only have three or four pics of the two of us together, we've taken more pics of the kids than of ourselves.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Pet Peeve (1/1/2009 6:55:00 PM)

PM Daddy hates getting pictures taken, he thinks he looks ugly, or balding, and truthfully it's cause he won't smile or try to look happy in the pictures, not that ALL pictures turn out bad.

We've got one up on our profile of us, number 5 and every one so far who knows us has complimented how good we both look.

So we have like 4 pictures of us in the 3 years we've been dating.
