MzMia -> ONE goal, dream, challenge, objective for 2009 (12/30/2008 6:05:24 PM)

**Happy New Year! **
Okay I am early.......

I don’t believe in resolutions because they have never really worked for me.
In the midst of New Year’s resolutions, promises, lists, hopes and dreams, I want to hear
about your ONE personal goal, challenge or objective for 2009.

The irony in having ONE life changing goal, is that if you accomplish it, normally that ONE goal
could create hundreds of other changes and positive events.[:D]
Many underestimate the power of making ONE big change.
Depending on the success of your ONE personal goal, your entire life can be changed.

I have been on and off the path of spirtual enlightenment almost all of my life.
My ONE big personal goal {which I have already started} is to make significant growth on my inner path of spiritual enlightenment.
I realize my journey will last the rest of my life on earth {and into the next world}, so for me 2009 is just the year that I take off on my life’s journey.
A lot of my spiritual growth involves reading material that will assist me in my self-help spiritual path, many ZEN moments, lots of meditation, yoga, and frequent every day rituals and activities that will keep my focused on my center and my path.
I plan to nurture my journey by participating in online and offline workshops with those of a similar mindset.

I have found a lot of free sources online that are great tools on my path to developing my inner path of Enlightenment.
I have already noticed subtle changes in my persona, and I am at peace with the universe.
{This does not mean the old ME won't come back now and then.[:D]
Face it, when this is done, I will turn into one of those people {A new age Hippy}, I just have to resist wearing earth shoes, wearing dresses with sunflowers on it, and saying peace all the time.
If you want to peek at some of the material I am reading, here is a link to a website that is providing me with a lot of resources.

Happy New Year to Everyone!
Peace and Blessings!

I always say, I'm going to quit smoking.  Of course that never lasts more than a day or two.  I always say I'm going to start exercising more and eating less junk food.  I'm not fat or anything, but I know my lifestyle isn't the healthiest.  Of course I never follow through with that goal.  I am a major proponent of the "I'll start tomorrow" way of thinking.

As for any especially enlightened goals.....not really.  I want a better job, and I'm looking.  I need to make up my mind whether I want to go back to school for my M.A.  I was dead set on it in 2006, but I changed my mind.  So apparently a flaw of mine is being wishy-washy and indecisive.  I reckon I should work on that.

Most of us are I will start tomorrow people!
As I sit here enjoying ZEN moments, I will soon also be enjoying some
ZEN potato chips, and a ZEN cosmopolitan.
I really think many of us are just to hard on ourselves.

Making small steps is better than taking no steps!
Good luck on your career goals!

I can honestly say that as far as material possessions go, life has been absolutely fabulous to me. The only thing that I still wish to acquire, is a Queen Anne Victorian home. As matter of fact.....by the end of 2009 - not only do I plan to have one, but I also plan to acquire a second one in a downtown location for an office.

I have a few other personal fitness goals.....but after that I'm all good. [;)]

This is a good time to be a "buyer".
Queen Anne Victorians are beautiful homes!

I hope for all of us, the interest rates stay low for a long time!

Sanity -> RE: ONE goal, dream, challenge, objective for 2009 (12/30/2008 7:14:53 PM)

Hi slaveboyforyou.

Those are all good goals and take heart, they're all achievable. I've done all of those things, and I'm here telling you it only takes determination. Reinforce the reasons for doing those things in your mind every day. Tell yourself why you want to do those things, and repeat it to yourself every day, and your determination will grow. And don't be afraid to try and fail, because the key there is that you're trying.

And watch for opportunities! I quit smoking when I caught a bad flu and couldn't smoke for a week and at the end of that week I didn't want to, and so I didn't. It wasn't until about six months later that I started Jonesing for a smoke but I knew that just one drag meant that I would be as addicted as before - that one drag would take away my choice in the matter, and so I resisted with all I had, and so far I haven't had one. I rarely even think about it any more, even when I'm around people who are smoking. I just don't want to.

My goal is to rebuild my truck this coming Spring, and have a good, reliable rig to work and play in come Summer. I intend to take it on a road trip to Crater Lake, Oregon and the Northern California Coast and the Redwoods, then to come back through the Nevada desert in it. Do some prospecting maybe, hopefully find a new-to-me recreation area.

I love my truck... it's a great classic Dodge Power Wagon, and it hurts me to see it limping the way it is.

Years ago I resolved to make no more New Years resolutions, and I that is the only resolution I have kept. As for goals for 2009, get a better job.

Mia...... Yanno I love you to death - but contextually speaking in terms of the Ranger, interest rates don't mean diddly to me. If I can not acquire a property with a cashiers check or wire transfer for the full amount of purchase - There is no purchase.

It's been that way for twenty years.....and its gonna stay that way [:D]

MzMia -> RE: ONE goal, dream, challenge, objective for 2009 (12/30/2008 7:28:26 PM)

Ahhh Arpig, I agree with NO resolutions.

But I do believe in having ONE goal, dream, challenge or objective.

Isn't there a difference between ONE goal and a bunch of resolutions, we ignore or forget?

That is why this is not a thread about resolutions!!!!!

Good luck with your goal!

Thank you and hugs to you Utopian![;)]
But many of us are poor folks {like me} and we have to borrow money from "the man",
and lower FIXED interest rates can make many of our dreams come true.
Happy New Year to you, sweetie!

I understand completely. But the mere thought of ''Usury'' makes me nauseous.

Have a fine New Year's Eve and don't drink too much wine, my beautiful lady friend [;)]
