Well, Obama has named 3 more of picks for his economic team. Obama has stated that there needs to be a shift of ethics on Wall Street, and that Wall Street has lacked adult supervision. I find the comment about "adult supervision" funny.[;)] Is Obama suggesting that the folks in charge these days, are running around wild in need of supervision? Obama states that we are BADLY in need of reform! I can't wait to see the "Changes" that are coming our way. Obama chooses 3 more to take on financial reforms - BusinessWeek

Mary Schapiro will head up the Securities and Exchange Commission, and Obama stated "You all know Mary". Apparently, Mary has a reputation for being someone who believes in strict oversight of financial markets. Actually, I don't know "Mary", but I am sure by the end of 2009, I will know a lot about Mary Schapiro. [;)]

As I clearly stated, Obama said Wall Street needs "adult supervision". What part of what I clearly stated is it that you don't get? I don't know who "Obamessiah" is, but that doesn't matter, inasmuch as I don't pay any serious attention to you either. Whenever I see one of your posts, I am reminded of a dream I had way back before you were born, in which a cop friend of mine (I was a hippie, he was probably a narc, but that was, for some reason, completely irrelevant; we got along really well, even going camping together with our respective squeezes) was trying to teach me "Canadian mathematics". I'm thinking "Austrian economics" must be very similar.

The SEC needs to be turned upside down and shaken! That Cox is an idiot. The uptick rule should be brought back. Funny that on a lot of days right at 3 o'clock stocks start going down! Gee, I wonder why that is? They should get rid of ..........a lot of things going on now. I hope that the new SEC Chair fires 80% of the personel.

The citizens of the US have learned through the wholesale fraud perpetrated on them over the last eight years that change of this sort is the only way the middle class will survive. They are ethical moral men. I can only dream about what the difference would be if they had been elected in 2000. I think they will succeed because the American people are behind them.

I am just astounded that we have had 8 count 'em EIGHT years of damn near no oversight at all and the radical capitalists piss and moan about the country being "over-regulated". Fine. The problem isn't Wall Street. It's Congress...they started this mess with the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac garbage. Half of the people on the Housing Committee including Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were taking money from them. Also, of course, Barry's chief economic advisor, who was under investigation. Of course, this all started with Clinton's HUD when they decided to give loans out to people who couldn't afford them. Is it ironic that loans designed to help people end homelessness made more people homeless when all of the banks shut down?

But he has not spelled out any specifics." you should reread that last sentence. so I ask my initial questions again. what is this 'adult supervision' and what ethics need to be changed?

They (in this case, Askia LLC) warned their clients not to invest with Madoff, as they believed it to be a Ponzi scheme. perhaps the SEC failed for other reasons than a "lack of regulatory power" as private firms were able to identify the problem easily. http://www.cnbc.com/id/28195326

Technically, that bad idea started with Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton just progressively double downed on that particular "16" hand (what the hell, it wasn't his money and it bought him votes for "caring").
