You just barely beat me to this post...  God speed to her.  She'll be missed.

From Number One in the original pilot, to Nurse Chapel in the original series, to Lwaxana Troi in TNG and DS9, her characters were unforgettable.

Not just a great computer voice.....a great actress.

Sad day indeed.

She is finally with her beloved Gene...Long may they explore the Universe.

her family has asked that donations be made to the CARE Organization or Precious Paws in lieu of flowers.

Could she BE any classier?  I think not.

You leave behind a legacy that is almost impossible to fill. Lwaxana Troi, Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed.

Rest in Peace Majel Barret, you will be sorely missed.

I have been to two Star Trek conventions. I followed her to the lobby to ask her a question. I don't remember what the question was but she was very nice and gracious.

She is with her beloved husband Gene. God bless them both.

My condolences to their son for his loss..

I've been a Trekkie ever since the first series....she will most definitely be missed and with any luck she and Gene will exist forever in the Nexus as it drifts thru the universe.

My one wish is that the legacy will continue for many generations to come!

I guess I lose my Trekkie card--I had no idea who that was just from the name. It took your comments to figure it out. Meh, I'm still bummed over Gygax taking off. And George Carlin, I liked having him still knocking around too... This shit has got to stop. Somebody call Death and tell him he's fired.

RIP.  Althought I don't share the same opinion of many towards her greatness.  Her acting was okay, but it wasn't stellar by any means.  I'm not a big fan of Gene Roddenberry either.  I think his ideas were great, but he almost ruined Star Trek with his meglomanical demands for control over the story content.

MarsBonfire -> RE: Majel Roddenbury dies.... (12/18/2008 8:51:59 PM)

Yeah, 2008 has been hell on fantasy and science fiction and fetish greats, hasn't it? Gygax, Ackerman, Bettie Page, Beverly Garland, George Carlin, Majel Roddenberry...

The cool thing about this woman was, you could actually MEET her at the conventions. Talk to her. While the other actors were denying autographs and demanding huge speaker fees, you could actually walk up to her and chat. She sold these stupid hawaiian hats to benefit the charities she supported and was always willing to listen to fans... (even some of the nutcase ones...) She was also of an earlier generation. One that smoked and drank, and who acually helped turn the sexual revolution. If you look online, you'll find photos of her an Gene in japanese garb for a ceremony, and even a lot of "family photos" on the set of Trek and Gene's other pilots, and at events. In all, she was an amazing woman, and as the theatre folks like to say, "she owned her space."

I'm gonna miss her terribly, although I've only met her a couple of times over the decades.

And Berman etc. Have done so much better of a job in his place? please.

When Roddenberry ran the brand the stories were about ideas since then it has become little more than the same action adventure drivel you get from any other outlet. Things are so bad that at least 2 different fan organizations are making Star Trek webisodes true to Gene's vision rather than hoping that Paramount will ever get things right again.

LumusandtheLady -> RE: Majel Roddenbury dies.... (12/19/2008 4:58:14 AM)

[:(]  My heart is breaking, how many more classic ones are we going to lose? Yes, I'm a trekkie, have been all my life. Gawds, it drove my parents bonkers!!! I even named one of the monsters Patrick Stewart.... (Hey, I was pregnant, what can I say?) [sm=dunno.gif]

May she and Gene see what's out there together and rest in peace together. My thoughts are with their family at this time.

I met her once at a Star Trek Convention, she was wonderful and invited some to her room to watch a upcoming Star Trek show not yet shown.  She will be missed by many.[:(]
