MysticalPhoenix -> More SW Michigan Greetings! (12/29/2005 11:50:01 AM)

I've been reading the forum for a while, but only finally started posting today!

I am a lifestyle dominant, currently between submissives-which is what brought me to collarme.com in the first place.

I was introduced to the lifestyle through the fetish community about 10 years ago, and had the good fortune to be involved in the Boston Dungeon Society for a few years. Currently, I live near Kalamazoo, and hang out with the local KINKsters, but I am planning to move to Seattle where I can be more myself, and not have to pretend to be an icon of vanilla goodness.

It took me quite some time to find my own particular angle on BDSM-I've tried a lot of different things. For me, the ideal D/s relationship is that of a Lady and her butler/manservant. That doesn't appear to be very common in the scene, so I'm having to develop my own rules and regulations for such a D/s relationship. Vanilla books on butlering have proven to be very helpful in crafting much of those rules, I just have to give them a BDSM angle-vanilla butlers who screw up usually don't get whipped, nor do they have to serve in the nude, or wear a chastity device.

I'd love to hear from anyone else who is interested discussing in this particular aspect of BDSM, just please no offers of service. I have narrowed the field down to two boys. One of them will be offered the chance to be trained as my manservant. One of them will not.

Hello there.

I must say that the butler/manservant angle is very interesting. I always enjoy hearing about people's unique takes on the lifestyle. And the idea of adapting vanilla texts into part of the training is a brilliant idea.

Thank you, Mister :)

I got a very interesting book called Roberts Guide for Butlers and other Household Staff, written by a butler in 1827. Although he does get rather preachy, he does come up with things that sound just as relevant to a bdsm servant today, than to the vanilla servants of the early 19th century:

"The kind admonitions of a good and affectionate Mistress or Master should always be listened to with respect and obedience."

He refers to the book being for the benefit of men in service, "and for the familes they have the honor to serve." I liked that reference to the honor of serving.

And when referring to servants "who don't know how to begin their work in proper order unless being driven by the lady of the family," he states, "how disagreeable this must be for the lady who has to tell them every thing that she wants done."

He also states (a little preachily), "the various stations in life are appointed by the Supreme being, therefore every station that he allows us to fulfill is useful and honorable in their different degrees."
