is it easier to make or buy stocks and similar items..I am curious as to know. Because I would like to make My own so any advice would be helpful.

Lynnxz -> RE: stocks and such (12/8/2008 8:16:50 PM)

O.o That would depend entirely on your creativity, your skill level with fabrication, and your access to tools and materials. C has made some bad ass toys and gear that would be near impossible for someone lacking a full shop of welding equipment... so really I suppose you are the only one who can answer this.

magdelyn -> RE: stocks and such (12/8/2008 8:19:55 PM)

Ha ha.  When I first saw the title of this thread I thought you were talking about equities.  Equities are of interest to me since I have been buying stocks  because they are so cheap these days.

housesub4you -> RE: stocks and such (12/9/2008 4:32:11 AM)

Yea I thought this was about WS, since it is not look at the web site for the frugel Domme or something like that and there are plans on the site on how to make a stock

or just do a search on here and you will find this subject covered at least ohhh I dunno maybe a 1000 times

This will in all probability depend on where you are and accessability to a good supplier/manufacturer of BDSM Furnature. if you have basic handyman skills with tools including power tools and are a tad inventive/inovative, and have reasonable access to basic materials such as timber (lumber) of construction grade or better as well as hardware, basic stocks can be easily made. Again if you have the skills you can add to the basic product by adding a kneelng bench allowing a sub/slave to kneel instead of standing whilst in the stocks which has the advantage of their bare arse being well presented for flogging, caning, paddling or spanking or even fucking from the rear possition.

Look mate why not give it a whirl and see what you can do? Who knows you may supprise yourself and finish up with something to be proud of and have the confidence to start building Gawd knows what other kinky things for your use and entertainment. There is a great forum on Fetlife on DIY Gear including stocks etc.

Best of luck on the project.

If you can make it yourself, it is recommended because if they're too tall or too short the bottom won't be able to tolerate it very long. You don't want them hurting their back or neck. So one made to the measure of the person who is going in there would always be appreciated.

SimplyMichael -> RE: stocks and such (12/9/2008 7:28:37 AM)

Considering the quality of most bdsm toys and furniture, anyone with a jig saw and a cordless drill can duplicate most of it.  Add in a router and a random orbit sander and you will be right up there with about 95% of the commercial stuff.

Doing stuff like Sonny Black http://www.dungeonfurniture.com/ takes things like commercial sewing machines but the underlying woodwork isn't all that hard.

I WISH I had a commercial sewing machine as I want to do that level of upholstery but to do the sort of woodworking I do requires a whole woodshop and the skills, but like doing relationships, you only get better by doing and I have made a lot of basic stuff myself.

So hammer away and be proud of what you do.

IronBear -> RE: stocks and such (12/9/2008 7:48:01 AM)

Michael, why not go the traditional route and forget maching stitching and do all the upholstry by hand. takes longer I grant you and is harder but man when you get it right you have an antique finish which will make everyone sit up and take notice..  Just a thought. BTW most home sewing machines are capable of doing the same work with the same paterial as the commercial ones provided you get the right needles..

Is it easier to make or buy? .......depends how much money you have! Either way, this is one time when size matters :) Height adjustable stocks would be a great idea - does anyone sell them???

Aszhrae -> RE: stocks and such (12/16/2008 11:59:15 AM)

If you are able to, reverse engineer an object that you have seen, think proportionately of the dimensions, take into consideration alternative materials, draw up a plan.
Michael has already stated the basic tools.

Well...duh..it's way easier to buy them than make them.  To buy them you either put your hand in pocket and fork out cash, hand someone your credit card, or spend 30 seconds writing out a check.  To build your own you need to decide on a plan....draw it out...figure out the materials you will need...saw...sand...finish.

Of course, there is the added bonus and pride of making something yourself.  I've seen some plans online for stocks and things.  Look at them and change to suit yourself.

Aye they do but not in the adult shops. They are made to order usually with several alternative finishes and additional extras then shipped to you either assembled or flat packed. I don't have a list of suppliers here in Australia because I like to make my own gear to suit my own style of things (Medieval).. Do web searches for suppliers in your area..

centexsub -> RE: stocks and such (12/16/2008 7:21:11 PM)

I wonder if you can buy stock in a company that makes stocks.  [8D]

DelilahDeb -> RE: stocks and such (12/16/2008 8:49:44 PM)

Clarification:

  • Pillory—device, traditionally wood, at which the victim must stand while her/his head and hands are restrained through fitted holes in the pillory. Adjustable height is indicated unless you intend to apply the Procrustean solution to the matter of height. (That's a joke, folks.)
  • Stocks—device, traditionally wood, that restrains the victim's ankles (and sometimes wrists), while they sit exposed to public ridicule.

Both are historic means of public punishment. The device in which Heath Ledger was "publicly pilloried" in The Knight's Tale was a pillory.
Although I can't find an image reference quickly, my recollection of a woodcut depicting stocks used in Puritan New England were wrist-and-ankle stocks.

IronBear -> RE: stocks and such (12/17/2008 6:12:30 AM)

Of course if you really are keen to own the deluxe super dooper height/length adjustable devise, may I suggest you invest is a Rack which will adjust your height/length or anyone you chose to secure to it in infinitesimal degrees depending on the ratchet  gearing and you have the added pleasure of using leather, rope or chain to secure your vict.. ermmm subject. I have also heard of an add on device which can be attached to the cock or balls to stretch those to and which can be modified to stretch breasts too....  Such a devise can be the focal point for your dinner parties and will soon be the talk of the town which should bring many requests to visit and inspect such a wondrous devise.

My suggestion, move somewhere that already has stocks in the garden. I did [:D]

kdmfl -> RE: stocks and such (12/18/2008 12:28:03 PM)

Dang it, I feel for a similar thread last week.  I was hoping for great advice on stocks and bonds to make my fortune and retire earlier once the marget picks up again

SimplyMichael -> RE: stocks and such (12/18/2008 7:28:54 PM)

In my new profile picture, I am working on a very high end Stock shaped like a mandoline with a fully inletted lock that uses an actual skeleton key.  One could do it all with handtools, a coping saw, a handplane with adjustable sole, a beading plane, router plane, inletting chisels and a few rasps.

Does this mean lass, if I were to adorn my garden and garrage with stocks and other interesting dungeon furnature all in good working order, you may move here?  Just had to ask.

michelleryder -> RE: stocks and such (12/19/2008 4:04:37 AM)
