Ya know, it's about time! Finally, with all the adversity facing us, good ol' Tom Brokenjaw decides to focus on what's important!

Satyr6406 -> RE: Brokaw "Breaks bad" with President-Elect Obama (12/7/2008 8:39:26 PM)

Yes, he took over for the late, great Mr. Russert on "Meet The (De)Press(ed)"

Well, it is about time someone called Obama on the really serious issues!!!!

We have heard his opinions on the minor things like the war in Iraq, the economy, etc....

Now it is time to really get serious with the man about the really important issues....

I wonder why Brokaw didnt ask him if he was planning on having sex with his wife.....

the 68ters, ruins alot.

look at all the people with college degrees who dont have work.     Former students should demand their time back from the failed university grid!

we built a society where the best and the brightest, means we glorify mediocrity.  Our educated people are "programmed" for a paradigm, which is not sustainable and in collapse.  We know only that mode, nothing else.  We are not stealth enough to adapt.

The corporate formula of big businesses has corrupted the learning centers that were supposed to liberate us.

Consider new inventions in the last 10 years.  WHAT?   I produce, invent and create NOTHING.   Rather then eating an egg sandwich, we find ways to put plastic in it. We suppress the science.  We gut consumer protection laws.   We are in effect not people, but LIVESTOCK.

It isnt tho the doing of many at the universities, but the grid structure.  There is no room for dissent, for REAL groundbreaking.

The unviserties have allowed the "markets to decide"....THE markets that are too big to fail!!!

So while we thought we had a civilization that excelled, we dont.

The question now is, what will YOU DO about it?    The day is ticking to chaos.    We deserve what we will get!

And this has to do with Obama quitting smoking in what way again?

Since Obama has a history of past drug use, this story kind of reminds me of the movie "Airplane!"

The media is complicit in the current madness with no intention to inspire resolve.

WTF.  per him smoking.  who cares?    I dont have to breath it, so fine by me.  Supposedly US culture is the best in the world, the only correct culture.

We had well enough time to address the decline in the standard of living in the US. We get distracted into oblivion, anything to reduce any effort to reverse such.

This is what colleges "inspire" us to do?   THIS is investigative reporting?

The colleges ought to be hiding and shutting down over the defective product we call "journalism".

I really doubt if you've seen anything yet, regarding the left wing media's shameless infatuation over Obama.

JFK's Camelot was nothing compared to what's coming...

PaHunk, we used to have something called "O.J.T." (on the job training) in this country that worked extremely well!
But, colleges and unis can't make any *money* from that, can they?
So, they came up with "internships."
They're the same as "O.J.T." only the colleges and unis get *paid.*
Like I've said all along, many jobs simply don't "require" a "degree."
Being a Reporter (or a Writer for that matter) isn't a "profession" it's a "craft."
Having a "degree" isn't neccessary to become a Reporter.
Years of reporting on early morning fires, accidents, politics, knowing policemen and firefighters and developing your own "sources" makes a Reporter.
You know, "the things they don't teach you at Harvard business school."
Look at all the "talking heads" on tv these days. They all look, dress, talk and sound the same! Cookie cutters.
They all probably have "degrees" in "communications" or some misnomer like that.
At least Fox News hires the pretty ones just to take the edge off.
A hundred of them couldn't make one Edward R. Morrow.

Popeye.

"tenure"  is a way they keep the professors in life.   one can not go against the grain to get to this point.

Picture the country in the 1700s.  Now the goal is to go west.  So one could go take the path.  well that is not BUILDING a path, that is taking the easy way.  no new ground breaking occurs.   now apply this to all these theories which today has cost society over 700 billion dollars.   The universities are responsible in proportion to the human capital they have cranked out.

An advanced society would not need 11 bail outs in one year.  Not in the least.  This is  a failure to function.   Think about that.  We have the absolute best and the brightest!    We have awe inspring minds.    so why is the grid collapsing?  why did these bright minds let us get to such point?  why would they want this for their own families.

I think a number of universities need to loose their charter!!!

They failed to process an intelligent mind.    The best and the brightest-  what a bait and switch.

ANy professor that TRIES to break new ground is a threat to the status quo.   So true progress is muted.   We may only go down the path that we groupthink say is right, no other path.

But all the while we miss out on the point we could be in life.    These universies gobbled up some cash, but worse then that wasted the time of many who are taught   soley 1 paradyme, that which is now disintegrating.

Smart - if we were truley educated,  it would not be so costly.   This generation today has made the costliest errors that ever have been made thru out history.  And now we will pay.
