Missokyst -> Fainting goats (12/7/2008 6:05:25 PM)

I don't know if any of you have seen one, but these animals literally stiffen and fall over on their sides when startled.  And it does not take much to make that happen.
Well... this same thing sort of happens to me when we play (usually electric type) agressively.  The X and I do get into playing now and then, mostly with me getting panicked. We have .. no, I, have a modified cattle prod thing which will send me into space at first touch.  But before we get to that part, his just coming near me too close will make me stiffen and fall over.  Fainting goat..
I am not diabetic.  I don't have any known illnesses.  I can space within seconds though.  And fainting is not really fainting as far as I can tell.  I am cognizant, but just "gone" for a few seconds.
Does this happen to anyone else?  Or am I more of a freak than I thought.

Not to anyone of whom I've heard except you but fainting goats are amusing.
Has this always happened or is it a recent development for you?

I had a neighbor that owned a fainting goat... which isn't really a hijack...

Is this like cow tipping?

No, fainting goats were bred by shepherds (IIRC) as "bait" for wolves. The theory was that if a pack of wolves descended on a herd of sheep, the goats would faint while the sheep ran away, and the  wolves would just chow down on the comatose goats. Offering gratuities to cattle played no part in the story.

Missokyst -> RE: Fainting goats (12/7/2008 6:20:41 PM)

It is semi recent.  At least this newest incarnation of it. I have dropped to my knees when touched with a violet wand as I slide into subspace for the last 8 yrs or so.  It has freaked out more than a few people.  But this is beyond that.  I don't have to be touched, just threatened too closely with a touch.  I have noticed that it seems to carry on into my regular life as well.  Not in the extremes as in the case of play, but when I am stressing big, if I don't take a breath I do start to feel faint, but it is brief, small, and easier to overcome.
Stress has odd outlets in my life.

So let me get this straight - you get hit by electricity and 'feint', and think this is strange.  The Taser company would disagree.

You might be susceptible to a lower voltage, but it sounds normal to me.

Missokyst -> RE: Fainting goats (12/7/2008 6:35:21 PM)

not exactly correct.  I know what electricity does to me.  This happens even if I am not touched.  It only takes a serious threat that I might be touched.

DesFIP -> RE: Fainting goats (12/7/2008 7:03:30 PM)

Sounds like a panic attack of sorts.

littlewonder -> RE: Fainting goats (12/7/2008 8:06:35 PM)

like DesFIP said..sounds like a panic attack.

You may wanna speak to a dr about this.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Fainting goats (12/7/2008 8:07:00 PM)

Ditto- panic or anxiety episode

Not sure about Goats but have you ever seen a fainting mob of sheep? Usually happens when a Kiwi male gets into a padock of sheep and the female sheep (ewes) all fall over faint with hearts fluttering with orgasmic thoughts.....~Grins at all da Kiwi men here~

I can picture it now.

Dr. Straighlace: "So, what seems to be the problem young lady?"

Myst: "Well doc, whenever anyone, but especially my ex, touches me with a cattle prod, or even a violet wand, I faint. What do you think the problem might be?"

hmmm...

opposingtwilight -> RE: Fainting goats (12/7/2008 8:44:12 PM)

Kyst, I have experienced something similar in the context of a scene. Its like, for a few seconds, I am on overload and I go limp. I'm aware but I'm not able to respond. It doesn't last very long but it usually scares the poo out of unsuspecting doms. I don't really worry about it, personally as its never had any sort of lasting effect and within a few moments I am back and raring to go.

editted to add

I never thought of myself as a fainting goat ... Before.

Thunderbird56 -> RE: Fainting goats (12/7/2008 8:45:25 PM)

Hmm, doesn't cashmire come from a goat too? The pervert in me just had a brainstorm, why not crossbreed the fainting goats with cashmire goats and then weave sweaters for women?
"Excuse me miss ... Boo!"
Am I the only one that thinks of these things?

DavanKael -> RE: Fainting goats (12/7/2008 8:50:22 PM)

Since it's gotten more extreme recently, I think a check-up via a medical doctor (for blood pressure or other medical stuff) may be in order, then I'd consider having anxiety/panic attacks assessed if there is no medical matter that can be found.

Missokyst -> RE: Fainting goats (12/7/2008 8:57:44 PM)

Yeah I considered it for a bit.  But I really am a person whose body will find other ways to indicate stress.  Hives, bloody noses, ect, and as I adapt to each it passes and another occurs.  This faux fainting stuff is pretty amusing though, even to me as i am fully aware but just can't prevent it.
Healthwise  am disgustingly sound.  No blood pressure issues, diabetes, I dont even get headaches or cramps (unless deliberately induced). I don't know why it happens other than being a strong reaction to panic.. but I enjoy that part.
LOL I was kinda hoping other people have had similar reactions, but once again I am more of a freak than I want to believe.
<g> I am both good with that, and appalled.

ElectraGlide -> RE: Fainting goats (12/8/2008 10:25:32 AM)

I hope the goats in this picture do not faint. It would be a long fall.

Actually, I prefer my goats, and subs, to have a bit more stamina. Yanno ?

Missokyst -> RE: Fainting goats (12/8/2008 4:49:46 PM)

YAY!!!
I am so happy to hear it is not just a "me" peculiarity.
And yes it is like that.  Limp, but aware.  It is like a rapid system overload that dumps out and lets you fill up with more.
