Why I'm Optimistic

A contrarian view of what's happening in the global financial markets.  Essentially, all the negative stories about the global economic crisis are setting the stage for some interesting rebounds in the coming 12 months.

Is he right?  Is he wrong?

CL, good article!
I like all this "gloom and doom" talk too, it's one of the signs of the bottom in a bear market.

I think he is selling his newsletter.  :-)

In a DISINTEGRATION,  the markets do bounce.  We have not hit bottom.   I am leary of fake bottoms.   The thing about the stock market is the small investors usually are the last to ride a bull.

I do think tho, that a tremendous opportunity lies in the wreckage!
With crises comes opportunity for those who take action, the right action.

I think that certain stocks likely ARE a good deal right now.    Think how it went on the brady bunch...Bobby bouncing a ball. Well it crashed down the stairs and broke that beautiful priceless vass.   Mom always said, not to play ball in the house.

See?

Our present stagnation is not permanant....
If we can hold on until it stabilizes there will be money to be made!....Be an Optimist that carries an umbrella!

I had an ex I seen for 7 years.   When his grandfather passed away, we were shocked.   He made a ton of money durring the depression.

I agree that there is a fortune to be made.  (the trick is locking it in)

Is this not exactly the methodology whereby we have reached where we are now?

Wealth and money are not the same things by a long stretch.

Of course this is a great time to buy certain stocks.
Especially, if you are willing to buy low and hold on to them
for a while.
I have wanted to get into a well established mutual fund and
I plan to get into it very soon.[;)]
But I still think the market has not hit the bottom yet.

Being optimistic about the stock market eventually coming back
is a good thing.
Just tell me when the over 1.5  million people that have lost their
jobs {and some very well paying jobs} will be able to feel optimistic?

The "contrarian" theory may give you a long term  signal but the problem is that it does not give you an accurate day to day entry signal. In my youth I met a contrarian in the futures market and found he was full of shit when his signals cost me over $50,000 in the soybean market. Today he would say the contrarian viewpoint is at 100% that the economy will turn upwards.  What he cannot tell you is when in the next ten years the economy will turn upward.  Good luck.

What a wonderful post Lorr!
Sometimes the little nasty details about how the economy is spiraling downhill

gets in the way of things.
