Take the test and see how you compare to 2500 HS and Uni students.

http://www.americancivicliteracy.org/resources/quiz.aspx

I got 32 out of 33, and it's been a loooooong time since I had any of this stuff.

No cheating. Be honest, if possible.

I'm not going to bother with the test.  Fail!  Half the time I can't even remember what I did five minutes ago and someone wants me to willingly take a test?  LOL... yeah... okay...

31 out of 33 and at least two were more of a reasoning out the question than actually knowing the answer.

I guess you're the better Man HK, I got 28. Here's what I missed :

Question #4 - B. Would slavery be allowed to expand to new territories?
Question #8 - C. appoint additional Supreme Court justices who shared his views
Question #13 - E. certain permanent moral and political truths are accessible to human reason
Question #31 - A. an increase in a nation’s productivity
Question #33 - D. tax per person equals government spending per person
I swear #33 is some sort of eror because that was not my answer. Maybe I screwed up, I dunno. I also got a kick out of #3. Hmmm, for some reason it won't copy here, but it's the one about the three branches of governmnent. Boy I could have alot of fun with that. E. GM, Citicorp and Dow Chemical F. military, lobbyists and lawyers G. Walmart, welfare and the Likud party I also noticed that the average is up for the month of December to 74.9%. I wonder why. And I can see with my big head why I might score higher than college educators, but by thirty points ? And the average for this month is higher by twenty ?  One second while I try to lose this font color <text=000000> [text 000000] While I don't find it surprising, I find the spread to be. Of the college educators though, did they go to an engineering school or what ? I certainly hope they didn't come from a law school, but then these days that would not surprise me. OK, highboy me went back and looked, they returned what they deem the CORRECT answers. If you look at 33, I answered A, debt would be zero. Is that not true ? On #31, international trade decreases productivity, they say increase. I beg to differ, at least as true for the US, in the long run. On #13 I really didn't know.  On #8 I might be confuddled, but I put threatened impeachment. Old history gets mixed up in the mind sometimes.  I gotta go, lose this font color. BTW, which one did you miss ? T

Added, hmmm, seems not to have adopted the font color, just echoed it.It was red on this end.

OK you showoffs, I'll find you a different test, maybe an electronics test to get you to stop knocking those beer mugs, singing with the juke box and having your mate dance on the table.

I missed #27. What the hell is a "price system"? Anyway, here's some scary stuff:

Elected Officials Score Lower than the General Public

"The ISI civic Literacy survey was not designed to test the civic knowledge of elected officials, but it did discover evidence of an interesting pattern that may merit further exploration."

"In each of the following areas, for example, officeholders do more poorly than non-officeholders:

•Seventy-nine percent of those who have been elected to government office do not know the Bill of Rights expressly prohibits establishing an official religion for the U.S.
•Thirty percent do not know that “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” are the inalienable rights referred to in the Declaration of Independence.
•Twenty-seven percent cannot name even one right or freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment.
•Forty-three percent do not know what the Electoral College does. One in five thinks it either “trains those aspiring for higher political office” or “was established to supervise the first televised presidential debates.”
•Fifty-four percent do not know the Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war. Thirty-nine percent think that power belongs to the president, and 10% think it belongs to the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
•Only 32% can properly define the free enterprise system, and only 41% can identify business profit as “revenue minus expenses.”"

Thank you HK for not wrecking my Saturday. That 41% know what profit actually means got a chuckle out of me. See I got this mental block against going postal on anything on Saturday, and that statement helped.

Lesse here, of that whopping 41% how many are smart enough to run a business, and actually make a profit ? Of those how many are eligible with some credentials to be considered worthy ? (you don't let a bar owner run GM, but actuallly .......)

In a country that needs business leaders so badly, perhaps we should outsource that ! HAHA ! Seriously it just occurred to me a minute ago. Now how's that for a twist, instead of giving our jobs away, give away their's !

I got 17 out of 33....and I'm not American!

Most of the questions mean absolutely nothing to me, so through a process of educated elimination I manage to get more than half right.

Yay me!

28 of 33 - though what some of the questions had to do with American civics I'm not too sure!
