I am just curious for those who might want to share what
"Having a Slave's Heart" means to you. Now, I do know that
I may get the standard "It Depends" or "Whatever it means to your Master/Dom".

If someone was to tell you that they felt you had "A Slave's Heart"
what that meant to you.

utopicus -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/5/2008 10:28:54 PM)

If someone would tell me this it would bore me to death. "You have a slave's heart". Wow - how profound. A slave's heart? Whose slave? Whose heart? Not two people are alike and each of them is happy about that.
I would expect a dominant person be intelligent and spontaneous; if so, they wouldn't come up with this cliché.

Aszhrae -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/5/2008 10:38:54 PM)

That's a good read by the way.

If someone told me that girl had a Slave Heart.
Are you asking me to become your slave? Or. Do you know a domme that is wanting a slave?

Rover -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/5/2008 10:38:57 PM)

Ok, let me preface this by saying that "a slave's heart" may mean everything in the world to someone else, and I'm not saying they're wrong for feeling that way.

But if someone were to say that to me, I'd seriously be thinking that they had been reading too many erotic novels.

It wound sound to me as if a heart transplant patient received one originating from the southern united states circa 150 years ago that had been kept in stasis up until the surgery.

myotherself -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/5/2008 10:59:03 PM)

If someone said I had a slave's heart, I'd do two things.  Firstly, I'd laugh until I peed myself.  Secondly, I'd walk away because this person clearly understands nothing about me.

Not saying being a slave is wrong, but it's not for me.

Ditto.  It's a fuzzy romantic term for people to feel better about having been born with a particular orientation rather than another.

Surrenderwithin -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/5/2008 11:15:27 PM)

To me having a slaves heart means my heart misses a beat when my Master is displeased and the slightest way. It means my heart beats faster anytime I feel his gaze on me.... it means he is the very reason I wish for my heart to beat. Having a slave heart means to my service to him is the number one most important thing in my life and my world. He is my meaning, my reason, and why I exist. I believe serving him was my destiny and the very reason I was created. I have the heart of a slave and I believe that my heart would stop beating if I were to ever lose him and leap from my chest should he ever be gone.

And what about someone who feels exactly the same way about their partner?  Or child?  Or slave?

That's the problem- all the experiences you describe are experienced by all orientations.  There's nothing specifically "slavish" about it.

Remember- service does not equal submission.

Why oh why is it always the heart? The liver does a lot of interesting things, too.

MRandme -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/6/2008 2:24:54 AM)

i have been told i am a slave at heart... that seems pretty close. It means i am very service oriented -- i really really enjoy making other people happy. It means that i don't have a dominant bone in my body. It means i am most comfortable in a relationship with strict boundaries and set expectations, where i am accountable to another (my Master) in every way, that i thrive under the rules and the consequences for breaking them. Somehow, in my heart, the tighter the rules, the more i am cared for and the more secure and safe i feel.

i suspect it means different things for different people. But for me, this is what is true.

Yeah, and outside of those sickening romance novels mentioned above, some in another area of these boards frequently talk about their slave "belly."  So take THAT liver.  Whenever I read about the burning fire in the slave belly, I can't help but think of hellacious heartburn.  Ouch[8D].................luci

"I want you so much i have reflux!!!"

amberseeks -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/6/2008 6:04:49 AM)

I always thought slave heart was someone who wanted to submit really badly.

CatdeMedici -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/6/2008 6:09:46 AM)

I am going to give you a serious reply since so many of the colleagues here have seen fit to use sarcasm in their coffee this morning instead of sugar.

I believe it is the culmination-- the peace, the tranquility that a submissive gets when they have found the right formula for them. When they have found the right type of submission, the right level of serving and the right supporting, inspirational Dominant and they can give openly and freely.

I submit from my kidneys. Since I have two, does that make me poly??

Oh and holly, LOL!!!

Ok, on a more serious nose, "slave heart" was a term I picked up in yahoo chat rooms ages ago, which signified to me a deep desire to submit. Chat rooms was the only place I have heard the term, though, and I suspect as some have said here, it's a romantic way of saying "I'm oriented toward slavery." Nothing wrong with romantic terms in my book, but it's not one that I use.

SadysticJester -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/6/2008 6:38:43 AM)

for the sake of arguement,lets say your talking to a sub..a person your trying to get to know and along the way you find that they lean towards slavery-vs-submissive,the more you explore this the more it may become apparent that slavery is what they are meant for..i say meant,,because some people have that desire inside of them and it may take someone special"quote/unquote". to bring this out of them.. it may also lead to misgivings inside of them as well because of the flood of thoughts...people are complex in every sense of the word.by finding the keys to unlock any one person is at best a hit and miss...mostly it has to do with trust,,,trust allows people to let themselves be guided to things they may have bottled up and wouldnt/couldnt bring out before(supposedly).this can go on and on..

littlewonder -> RE: Having a Slave's Heart (12/6/2008 6:41:09 AM)

If someone told me this I'd think they were spending way too much time in Gorean chatrooms.

it would mean this slave would ask questions regarding the comment.

was the intent to compliment or to insult?
what exactly does the term mean to the person who is using it to describe this slave, or any other they feel has a "Slave's Heart"?

one person's romantic vision of another as posessor of a "Slave's Heart" is the next person's vision of another as a repulsive "doormat".

I never would have considered that. How sad.
