OP, I'd go get some sealant that's meant for underwater exposure like swimming pools. You might want to go with a higher end epoxy, or poly. Sink a drain in the middle, if the cats are exposed to a specific area, that'd probably make it a lot easier on you. If you got the nice stuff, you could probably just end up hosing off the mess, without risking damage to the floor, and the pee would be less likely to stain.

Yea, I'm sure everyone would want a drain in the middle of their living room floor.

no. But lots of back problems and experience working on concrete. Especially when walking alot, its not fun and excruciatingly painful on the back and feet. there is a reason why its standard to not live on a concrete floor.

There are tons of cement sealers out there. Just about every huge box store has several brands.

I used a ext. sealer for my interior basement and it works great, plus they comes in several colors. Had the same issue with my cats and if they miss the litter box the floor cleans up very easy

I don't know about birthing ick, but there's some really great stuff that will take pet piss and poop stains out of concrete, Cause the pee seeps in and is absorbed by the concrete, and then when it's moist you'll smell it like a reoccuring bad dream.

You spray it on, let it sit for several hours, and come back and the stains should be treated.

I would not do that. The toxic smell will be with you for ages. If it were me I would wait until the weather cold passes. HOWEVER, the house I bought had awful pet smell in 2 of the rooms. I had no choice but to remove the carpet. Ironically, in order to get the mortgage, I had to cover the underlayment. (go figure)

My dogs arent in the good part of the house long enough...to do damage.

Even as it is, I wont sleep in the same room as the bird. (a blue fronted parrot)

If you are not picky, find a quality carpet vendor, and ask what they have in the back remnant-wise. They dont always know what they have. I got a good price that way.

The cats MUST be dealt with. Im sorry, but you have no other choice. You can not live like an animal.

Anyhow it is fun to upgrade ones home. :-)

Probably not everyone, but I've had conversations with other cat rescuers and that's all our dream....

If I ever build a house I will probably design an area for them that does have a drain, or perhaps an atrium or something.

My dream kitchen has that thick rubber on the floor and a drain in the middle so the floor can be washed down once a day.

For the kitty pee stink there is a product out available at most major pet stores with the word "Miracle' in it and it does work to get all the odor out. It also helps to prevent any future blessings by kitty pee.
