So... Condi Rice plays piano for the Queen.  I am not at all familiar with Brahms but it sounds to me there are a few flat notes in here.  Or is it just my innate left-wing leanings that makes my skin creep on seeing this vid?

It's your left leanings, RL - the piece was well played, musically speaking.  Besides which, if anything was flat (I didn't Hear anything, but I didn't listen as closely as I could have) - it would be teh "fault" of the piano tuner, not the performer.

Did Condi forget to curtsey when the Queen greeted her?!!!

Outrage!

If I were HM I would have been relaxating in a lazyboy, sod sitting in those uncomfy chairs. Ididnt hear much wrong with the playing but the my audio senses are not attuned to video:(

Sorry, but I'm afraid "Condi rocks" is an oxymoron.

Unless she played the wrong key.  But I'll accept your assurance that the rendition was correct (and not extraordinary) and blame the music for leaving me less than moved.

On the other hand, it could just be down to your right leanings...

and didnt the wife of one of our most glorious New Labour leaders accompany her?

naturally then, any musical errors arising from political leanings must have cancelled one another out (not that for one moment would I suggest any form of error arising from even the periphery of our exalted politburo)

I don't know the politics of Mrs Miliband.  I wouldn't automatically assume they were the same as her husband's.  But then, I'm a leftie.

There is no left or right RL. There is only the third way, New Labour. All other thought forms have been assimilated. etc

I frequently find myself at odds with Labour.  But then I'm a leftie.  I'm at odds with old-style One Nation Tories like you just as often.

There you go again, tossing the labels about without a clue as to who I am and what I am about..... if even I cant find a suitable label for me, its interesting to say the least that you can.

You're leading with your chin, LE.  Lucky for you I'm a gentleman.

She has to be a better pianist than she is a diplomat, how many wars is she leaving the military to fight when she leaves for a proper job?

tweedydaddy -> RE: Condi rocks Buckingham Palace (12/2/2008 5:24:35 PM)

I don't think it's right to label people at all. That sort of thing comes from a left wing perspective born of the straying from the three r's in the working class educational system, something, as a Patrician, I know nothing about.
I love all this so called democracy and the myth that the rabble have a valid view, it's positivaly fascinating.
But then, that's just me. Ho hum, back to the Courvoisier.

We're all labeled all our lives for one thing or another...labeling is a necessity of life just to communicate. Each of us have many labels...but it is always best to get the particular label right.

We should have greeted her like they did in Athens.

DMFParadox -> RE: Condi rocks Buckingham Palace (12/2/2008 8:04:59 PM)

Wow, the love in here is heartwarming.

I'm a modestly capable musician, nowhere near stage quality but I know my scales. There were no flat notes I heard. Slight synching issues, she was a wee bit faster than the violins at some points and had to compensate by being slower in others, and vice versa, but the piano was good, the notes were correct for the piece.
