I think that is a US thing that is catching on in the UK but it can cause many trust issues if you are presenting the possibility of failure at the outset and basically saying you don't trust your partner to do the right thing by not striping your assets if you find yourselves not seeing eye to eye at a later date. People would always say "Surely you know that I would never take 50% right?" if the answer is no then what do you really know about me they'd say and if the answer is yes then you don't need the prenuptial agreement they'd say. It's a sticking point.
I wouldn't say it helps you find true love because some couples have very businesslike relationships it would be argued.
