Ok, this is pretty gross but.....
Quite a few years ago as a counselor I was sitting in on a group therapy session that was made up of about 16 African American women....and I'm not sure if their ethnicity played a role in that this may have been some old cultural thing. I had never heard of it before or since though. Anyway, my role wasn't to interfere or contribute to the session...just give them a topic and monitor where it went. The topic was "Relationships". Now mind you, the women were all inpatient substance abuse and the goal was to discuss their choices in partners and the role that substance abuse played. One of the women commented that she had never had a "relationship", more like a never ending string of one or two night stands....she commented she hadn't figured out yet how to get them to stick around. To my surprise, one of the women said "Oh that's easy. You just got to make them dinner and mix some of your menstrual blood in when you're cooking it. It's a "love potion." To my even more surprise, 6 other women in the group said that they too had used that method.
