ORIGINAL: mistoferin I don't know if this will make you feel any better but... A few years ago I was plucking my eyebrows. Seems pretty ordinary right? Well, I can hurt myself doing almost anything. I was sitting in a chair with wooden arms. I accidently bumped my funny bone on the wood arm, which sent my arm (tweezers in hand) right into my eye. I ended up cutting my cornea from corner to corner. I went to the ER where they told me it was a really deep cut and in order for it to heal I would have to have BOTH eyes patched so that my injured eye wouldn't be irritated when I blinked. OMG...total blindness. I couldn't do anything!!! I had to have my mom come live with me for a couple of weeks and I had to depend on her for EVERYTHING! UGH!!! It sucks when your independence gets taken away suddenly. I hope you mend quickly and I will be thinking of you. OMG Erin!!! Seriously, I can injure myself doing anything, too! Glad to know I'm not alone there! I've already warned the man I'm sorta seeing that I'm a clutz and hurt myself a lot. [8D] I can't IMAGINE being without my vision. It helps to keep things in perspective, doesn't it? I mean, what the heck is two bad ankles, anyway? I can whine and grumble about not being able to walk, but in reality, I really do have it made, and I know that. My sister is sending her husband over with turkey today, and my friends are coming over tomorrow and throwing a party over here, haha. My boss checked in with me today, and my phone has been ringing non stop. How can I be sad with so much love around?? It's an adjustment, but I can adjust. Mom & I are watching movies all day, and she's giving me a bath and washing my hair later. I have good books to read and I'm forced into having down time to read them. It's like I told my mom - we work with what we've been given to work with. I am so fortunate and grateful. Oh and the way my mom is lecturing my cat is hilarious!!! While I miss my alone time and quiet, it is good for me to learn to accept help, learn patience, and go with the flow. Thanks for your post, Erin, and Happy Thanksgiving!
