Musicmystery -> How to ensure most people won't read what you want (11/22/2008 2:18:32 PM)

Simple.

Post an obscure, vague title.

Then, in the "content" post only a link to a title, with no explanation, even briefly, noting what it is or where you're headed.

Next.

The rest of us will read the news as usual. If you've something to share, then share. Since we aren't intimate with you, just open, trust me isn't gonna do it. We've things to do, and don't read every thread and every link just because it's posted.

Now you know.

I've never understood why people just post a link with no opinion or follow-up unless its something in the Humor section.

I can't stain the bear! They banana the dishwasher every blue.  I won't saxophone a tricycle to jazz Lisa's fence.

Yeah, I can't understand that subtle, inside joke stuff either...   :D

Maybe they don't want to influence the initial replies and will thus give their thoughts later. I see that quite often, Level used to do it a lot I miss his broad news.

Well not worries then, Muse.  If the economy completely collapses, you'll have a grand future training salesmen...[8|]

At least come up with an intriguing title.

Interesting thing about that....

The most successful book category is self-help books.

95% are never read.

I've also had threads go 25 pages off a title, link, and single line of commentary.

If someone is too lazy to write a few sentences and only posts a link,  98% of the time, I am too lazy to click on the link.

I don't complain, I just don't click and move on.
I never got the just posting links memo.[8|]

If I post a link, it has something to do with what I am talking about, and you
will understand my point or post, whether you click on a link or not.

Actually, there was a discussion on this very thing about, oh...I would say maybe a year ago?
Nothing was mentioned about a vague thread title as those would not get much attention anyhoo.  But there was a discussion about a thread title, a link and then nothing else.
The general consensus was that there should be something, both in the title and in the initial commentary (even a good one liner!) that would cause people to click and find out more.
If that doesn't happen, I don't bother.  Too many other interesting this to discuss around here.

True, but they do let friends and family maintain an air of condescending superiority over you when given as gifts.

MadameMarque -> RE: How to ensure most people won't read what you want (11/23/2008 7:41:03 AM)

Yeah, I like to know what I'm clicking to, so if you don't want to tell me to what you are linking, I'm probably not going to look there.

Vendaval -> RE: How to ensure most people won't read what you want (11/23/2008 2:31:27 PM)

What?  And miss out on all the fun.  Sometimes we digress into discussing pies and costumes and cannibalism...

Sometimes here on these forums I feel that it is a risk taking activity to post in this political forum so that people with negative attitudes  can  be mean and nasty  in the most vulgar way possible in whatever way they fancy after too much alcohol.

Not that I am saying that some or all are rude and stupid and complete fools but you often find that some asshole will invariably spew hatred and malice no matter what you state in your opinions.

Please fill in the blanks using words you find most appropriate.
