Because of financial tightening, it looks like I'll be renting out my loft. I have soemone who actually wants to move in this Sunday (I am SO not ready for a stranger to live here). Anyhoo, where can I go/site/agency whatever to have a complete and accurate background check done on this guy that wont cost me an arm and a leg yet still give real, and accurate information.?

Any suggestions please.

I suggest you check out www.mrlandlord.com

And make sure your loft is NOT nonconforming or you could be in for a LOT of trouble.

If you're renting out part of your own living quarters (home, apartment, whatever), make sure that you understand which laws apply to you. For instance, in California, some of the rules are different for renting out a self-contained living space (an apartment or single family dwelling) versus renting out a room in your own home.

Yes, the loft is in my own home, which is why I'm having difficulty with the concept of someone moving in.
