BKSir -> RE: PHOTO SMARTS (11/20/2008 1:35:07 PM)

I like to think that I take good pics...  I've taken them for a couple people here that are using them.  Unfortunately, I've also taken most of my own.  I am one of those 'not very photogenic' people that the OP mentioned.  *le sigh*.

Anyway, neutral backgrounds are good, example, hang a sheet or something on the wall and pose in front of that.  Use a sofa or something as a prop.  Get a few shots with a few poses, the more shots you get, the more chance you'll end up with something awesome.  Outdoors is a good place to take pics too.  I love shooting around my neighbourhood and yard, and up in the mountains.  All of these places are good for drawing attention to the subject of the photo, unless you somehow happen to end up with, oh... a mountain lion in the shot and you didn't know it was there.  Although, if you do, chances are that you found out it was there pretty quickly.  Anyhows, rambling and making no sense now.  Hi!

Just smile, don't add any of those godawful graphic things to the picture (like bubble text or american flags, or the absolute worst; the fake magazine cover), and make some attempt at looking presentable. No one wants to play with someone who has mustard on their shirt.

Also, the dirty room thing and ill-fitting clothing were very good points.

Don't use the wedding photo where you crop out your spouse

If its a pic thats got a lot of habitat background, please remember that dirty undies, pizza boxes from 1982, drink can statues, and that fuzzy green mold should be cleaned, or cropped out.

Particularly if you want somebody who is willing to relocate to your area or plan to relocate, if you are looking like the landlord is kicking you out due to being a health hazard, chances that somebody has a fetish for it are possibly slim....

If a picture is taken while you're laying on the floor, make sure there isn't a huge random slipper laying next to you.

Oh that is my pet peeve...... there are some fantastic photos of people that have parts of what looks like a significant other cut out.

Oh!! Creepiest!!

If you're taking pictures of yourself in slutty clothing while tied up and doing shocking things, make sure no one can see your cat in the background watching you from the next room.

Also remove children's toys from the general playing area. Nothing ruins a hot picture like a baby swing.

I had the same problem with a pair of scissors once and now people think scissors is my kink.
