ORIGINAL: laura2161 I'm a huge fan of BSG (And very disappointed this is going to be the last season) but I don't see a comparision between the two except for the name. BSG of old was well let's face it, campy and quite foolish (remember the mechanical dog running around the ship?) Now with that being said,I was young and totally in love with Starbuck and watched it faithfully every week. Now as an adult I wouldnt be able to get through 15 minutes of it. The 'remake' of BSG is astounding. The visuals, the scripts, even the sometimes too loud background music, everything is great. I didnt know if I could handle a female Starbuck but I realized 30 minutes into the first season that this was a brand new and improved BSG. I could go on and on. Stopping now :-) the mechanical dog was dagget... owned by a kid named boxy who incidentally is in the new one aswell the new series gave a couple of nods to the original but mainly yes the storyline and design is quite different. back in the day the camp scifi shows like BSG buck rodgers etc were popular as much for the camp as for the lasers nowadays we are a much more critical audiance in a way studios who tried to remake these old shows in the same image (see bionic woman ) have failed miserably... its only in cases like BSG where they take the idea and revamp it for a modern audiance that they get anywhere does anyone remember the miniseries from orignal BSG where they made it to earth and sent super smart kids with a couple of viper pilots to check it out wonder if the new series will do that Yes, I vaguely remember that, where they had motorcycles with a pretty advanced drive system. I used to like the old sci- fi serials, they were just entertainment, basic cowboys and indians in space, nothing threatening, just easy going, Buck Rogers, BSG etc. What is there now, what there is I see as pretty poor entertainment. Like what happened to LEXX and Farscape, or were they too much for tv, what with the rubber clad baddy in farscape.
