Convict Ted Stevens was very close of being re-elected. It shows how incredibly stupid Americans are.

Uncle Ted has been bringing it home to Alaska in a big way for a long time. Alaska is certainly going to lose influence in DC without him, and there will be a lot less $$$ flowing north - I'm sure that played a big part in some folks' votes up there. Add to that the spin that was going on about "Washington DC is deciding who Alaska's senator will be!" during the trial, and I wasn't at all surprised that it was this close.

IMHO that is one of the lamest defenses for Ole Ted I've ever seen.
