Ultimately, the man was charged with a misdemeanor.  Whether he should have been charged with more is arguable, but it is not an apt analogy to someone who has been convicted of multiple felony crimes.

IN MY OPINION he should have been charged with much more which bolsters my point that I made in my second post (Makes you wonder. Doesn't it?).

Thank you for taking the time to look it up (as I refuse to do peoples' research for them). No matter how anyone wants to spin it, a young lady died who quite possibly would not have died had Senator Kennedy not been busy worrying about C.H.O.A.

? Was Ted Kennedy a trained rescue diver? While Ms Kopechne's body might have been found much earlier it is not clear that Kennedy, or anyone else, could have rescued her from the car after it went into the water.

Convict Ted Stevens was very close of being re-elected. It shows how incredibly stupid Americans are.

That would be "Alaskans", not "Americans".  It was not a national vote.

I dunno about that.  Uncle Ted has been bringing it home to Alaska in a big way for a long time.  Alaska is certainly going to lose influence in DC without him, and there will be a lot less $$$ flowing north - I'm sure that played a big part in some folks' votes up there.  Add to that the spin that was going on about "Washington DC is deciding who Alaska's senator will be!" during the trial, and I wasn't at all surprised that it was this close.

IMHO that is one of the lamest defenses for Ole Ted I've ever seen.

Alaskans aren't Americans?  I guess Ol' Todd Palin's buddies were finally sucessful and Alaska seceded.
