im going to italy in a week and am wondering what the local woman prefer on an average Skipping the "on average", Italian women find "manly" men totally obnoxious - you are visiting a country when men have been known to make ridiculous efforts to look underneath blonde's skirts (no, this isn't an anecdote, I've witness this happen to my ballerina ex-wife). In general, if you don't speak Italian, you'll be laughed at behind your back, and will be buying a lot of drinks and dinners for very little score. Americans are generally not popular in Europe, with the exception of England and Ireland, although this is changing due to the election results, they now think we may have brains after all. Stay away from the Rome, the South and from the voluminous tourist destinations, they're geared only to taking your money. Milan is the most civilized and cosmopolitan city in Italy, some of the very best restaurants I have ever eaten are there - Richard Avedon's books were always published in Milan first, before they were published anywhere else outside of the US - but if you can't behave culturally appropriate, you'll be laughed at. I've lived in Monaco, where the Italian rich come to party, around the holidays, and after experiencing that (and them) once, I spent my holidays in places they weren't. Please be careful approaching women, if you inadvertently approach a beautiful Italian woman, just to buy her a drnk and chat her up, and her fiance or husband or their brothers or family friends are somewhere near, you'll need your medical insurance - I am not joking, I have seen this happen up close, they don't give a toss, and the cops will be slapping their backs. My recommendation? South of France, and Barcelona, if you want to do the Meditteranean.
