Status: offline 		To everyone, if you know a United States Marine, make sure you tell them Happy Birthday today as the United States Marine Corps celebrates it's 233rd birthday. 

Keep them in your prayers, your hearts, and if you get a chance, molesticate each and everyone of them men and women who serve with honor to God, Country, and Corps.

From the Halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli.
We will fight our country's battles, in the air, on land, and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom,
And to keep our Honor clean.
We are proud to claim the title,
of United States Marine.

Our flag's unfurled to every breeze,
from dawn till setting sun.
We have fought in every clime and place,
where we could take a gun.
From the snowy far off northern lands,
and in sunny tropic scenes.
You will find us always on the job,
the United States Marines.

Here's health to you and to our Corps,
which we are proud to serve.

As many know, my son is on Parris Island as we speak (well - type). I will send him a birthday card.
 
*BTW- he says he is doing fine physically and that most of Boot Camp is hurry up and wait. He tells me he lives from chow to chow- the DI's must let them eat, and occasionally, sleep. Today is the written test (day 24).

You know we LOVE our "Devil Docs".  And with a brother who's a retired chief, a mother who was in the first class of women in the signal corps, I have a soft spot for the "swabbies".

As a former Brit Army bloke, congrats to the Marines (and strength to all who serve their countries); funny isn't it - if you haven't been there (or you don't have a loved one who has) you don't really get it, this service thing.

And 233 years eh? I'm ashamed to say I don't know how long our Army's been around, though it's quite a while; but over 200 years is good in anybody's book. 



Edited to say that although I haven't fought anyone for years (apart from in the threads of course) I still hold the Queen's Commission. Never leaves you does it.
