After two months, he and Palin seemed to be barely on speaking terms.  And the campaign was following apart from lack of his direction.

I honestly think he would have been miserable as President.

I have zero regard for this woman,zip,nada,none......on the other hand it is a bit of a shame that McCain's campaign staff could not have paid more attention to their boss's concession speech. He took responsibility for his campaign, perhaps they could take responsibility or the job they did/didn't do on his behalf. The finger pointing an sniping going on is unseemly and hugely self serving on their part,a major case of cover your ass.

I am embarrassed for McCain. His staff people and Palin are doing him a dis-service in all of these anonymous leaks and back biting. No way for a man of his stature to be remembered.

I don't quite understand how a self-styled maverick war hero can allow himself to be led around by the nose by Steve Schmidt (his chief campaign strategist), who:
- picked Palin for VP instead of McCain's choice (Lieberman)
- forced the mudslinging campaign style (which Palin enthusiastically carried out) and ads (which McCain approved), against McCain's early desire to have a clean campaign.

I guess if "win at any cost" is your goal, then you'll go for that strategy.

Probably because he was sat on and controlled as much by his campaign managers as he was by his Vietnamese captors.

Being that easily controlled by one's own staff isn't the sign of a leader, now is it?

Be nice to the Manchurian Candidate.  He's only doing what he was programmed to do.  It's not his fault.

In all seriousness, he's probably is better off for not winning the election.  I think that is going to be a one term president no matter who won the election.  Things have been circling the drain for too long and there isn't much chance that any administration would be able to pull us back from the brink in a single term.  With today's instant-gratification mentality, people aren't likely to be satisfied with the progress made and are likely to voice their disapproval in the next election.

At any rate, it sure is going to be an interesting four years.
