Define "common" for me, and I will answer you.

I doubt it is unique to D/s, it is just one way of having sex, with or without toys. I believe anal intercourse, in general, is a little more common in the US than elsewhere, because college age girls in some area of the country teach each other to substitute anal sex for vaginal sex, so they can "give it up" and still remain virgins.

I decided to answer you instead of assuming the worst of you, if you prove me wrong and are actually just after wanking material...well that makes you just another wanker and you wouldn't want that would you [;)]

I enjoy it alot and I think the biggest part of that is because in a way it's the ultimate domination (for me anyway) In fact I can actually orgasm quicker from this then vaginal intercourse. Using larger and larger toys..no..I'm a firm believer in keeping things in shape and healthy.
Do I think it's common in the BDSM lifestyle? Yes.
Do I think it's common for slaves to actually enjoy it? I don't think so.

I don't know or particularly care if it's common in bdsm. 
Larger items cause greater feelings of stretching and fullness and that can be very pleasurable for some.

Someone noted the acivity as humiliating.  I've never viewed it as such in any experiences I've had (Except when it was supposed to be part of something more complete and that didn't happen but that's different; the act in and of itself, not humiliating).  If I saw anything as truly humiliating, I wouldn't do it.

   It's not something that I enjoy, or seek out.  This doesn't make me any less of a painslut, in my opinion.  Anal is an activity that does nothing for me.  Sorry, OP no wank fodder here.  [;)]

Edited to add additional thought: Is it something that is more prevalent in BDSM?  I wouldn't think so.  I have known plenty of "vanilla" guys that were all about ramming whatever they could get away with up my ass.  Needless to say, they weren't around long.
