FR - The demographics for this electin indicate that we are indeed progressing toward a color blind society..just not fast enough to suit most of us. My UM has a dear friend at school. They've been buds for years. It was, in fact, three years in before I met the friend. Whenever I was in that classroom, he wasn't, that first year, and since, they have been in seperate classes, yet maintained the relationship (that is an impressive feat in elementary, but I digress...). It was not until meeting the guy that I discovered he was black. THAT impressed the living daylights out of me.....that it was such a non issue that my UM never bothered to mention it. I, too, have introduced one friend to another for the first time, without the race of either having ever come up in conversations with the other. And that, folks, is what I hope to see in my lifetime. It will be a grand thing indeed, when the only time skin tone gets mentioned is when giving directions to someone picking up a person they have yet to meet, at the airport. Or when comparing tanning salons. Or perhaps when discussing attending a cultural event pertinent to one's heritage. The demographics of this election make me hopeful that if I don't see that day, my offspring will. Grace
