.....sad news. He was a writer that brought scientific ideas into the mass consciousness. He'll be missed.

What a shame. I saw a brief interview of his once. He seemed like a fun guy to get to know. I enjoyed what I've read of his work.

This is a loss to many of us.  His novel Eaters of the Dead was made into one of my favorite movies.

I thought he was a brilliant social critic and scientist.

He has been viciously attacked several times in threads here and other boards for having the brain power to out the "man made global warming" crowd and I believe that one day he will be known as a great prophet in forcing the debate on the "political" hoax now known as global climate change.

He will live on.

that's so depressing! I read Jurassic Park for summer reading in high school...I never saw the movie (still haven't, now refuse to. the books are ALWAYS better) and I adored the book. I'm a total genetics nerd so all the biotech stuff in that book was amazing and logical and complex for most people but I'd already taken classes on it so I knew exactly what he was talking about the whole time. I loved that book.

...now I wanna read it again...

But it wasn't just the biotech in it...his writing was very good as well. It was clear he did a ton of research for his books, and, as a writer myself, I can only credit him for being so thorough.

Such a sad loss. =( Brilliant man, and so young!
