Likewise, I have great "hope" too!
I hope he gets the Troops out of Iraq, S.Korea, Japan, Germany and a few other places soon.
I hope the American People get a healthcare plan at least as good as the U.S. Senate has.
I hope Obama gets us out of these "free trade" deals that only benefit big cos and the very wealthy.
I hope Obama starts to actually enforce our immigration laws and enforces or closes that Mexican border unlike Bush who's been derelict in his duties in that area for the last 8 years.
I hope Obama goes after and kills Bin Laden and Al Qeada.
Pakistan is not our friend.

I agree with every one of those points, and I am considered to be far to the left of you. Hmmm...

Well Hippie, I'm kind of hard to "peg."
I'm not a lib or con I relate more to the term "Lou Dobbs Populist."
I like things that are good for "The People" and the country, I think that's the way things should be.
I'm "conservative" when it comes to fiscal issues like our govt wasting our money.
I think we should get a lot more bang for our buck out of government and that they should not intrude into our lives.
And I don't think our govt should be entering into "agreements" with other countries that cost millions of Americans their jobs. ("NAFTA")
But, if gays want to marry or if someone wants to fire up a j-bar I couldn't care less.
I believe in freedom with responsibility.
Just common sense stuff I guess.

popeye, you wouldn't be so hard to peg if you'd just hold still.

That we understand we MUST pay our bills, even if that means we raise taxes.

That we spend more time on how to follow our constitution then how to get around it.

We must pays our bills - I will absolutely agree to that - but if you are over extended you don't kill yourself working three jobs to pay for things you don't need. You cancel the cable tv and maybe the high speed internet. You cook at home and stop eating out as much. You don't take on more responsibilities (new programs) and then look for a fourth job (raises taxes) to pay for it.

I have no faith in the second point being respected by the party in power so I stopped at the local firearms dealer on my way home from work and ordered a new handgun.

It took Bush the Second eight years to finish getting us into this mess (Reagan started it, IMNSHO, and I was working on Wall St. at the time, watching him). The first 1,000 days in office might be enough to let Obama make a dent. Anyone who's standing on one foot waiting on January 20, 2009, had better have really fine balance.

Instead of getting three jobs maybe we could stop at least one war...that would be 10 billion a month...hmmm I wonder what that would pay for.

Ask that our war debts be repaid...with interest.

Stop aid to the Middle East

Revamp tax collection

On and on...lots of ways to shift where our money goes to more important endeavors.

Our elected officials can only abuse the constitution if we let them.
