MzMia -> Let's get ready to rumble! Which candidates healthcare plan works for you! (11/2/2008 8:12:46 AM)

Both candidates have made proposal's to address Health Care
Reform in the USA.
I found an excellent article that does not appear to be bi-partisian {that is hard to do}.
It is current and does a step by step analysis.
Now I need the CollarMe resident "deep thinkers" to give their opinions on which candidate
THEY think is the best person to reform health care!
Let's get ready to rumble!

Analysis - health08.org

This is the best site comparison MzMia has found so far!! Hot Diggity!
And you get to vote on which candidate you feel is suggesting the best coverage![:D]

Guess which candidate I voted for![:D]
I am suggesting a novel idea when it comes to voting on Tuesday,
actually vote for the candidate who you think has the best policies for America.

Being taxed on the health care benefit provided to me by my employer simply does not work for me.  As far as McCain's plan, I can't move beyond nor do I care to move beyond that one fine point.

Same for us. Five thousand bucks tax credit simply wouldn't cover what it would cost us to insure a large family like ours. Nightmare.

I have read both proposal's and I will continue to read each one.
So far, I really, really prefer Senator Obama's plans!
Specifically because: He wants to guarantee coverage for any American or permanent resident that is similar to the plan available to federal employees.   He also wants to provide increased regulation of private market plans, I love the financial incentives for employer-sponsored health coverage,  and especially the subsidies for people that are not eligible for Medicaid or SCHIP  but still need health insurance.  {Working people who make to much for Medicaid but need medical insurance!}

Yes, I am ready to vote on Tuesday, and I know why on so many levels!
Peace!

I think Obama has the best idea on how to change things. Hillary Clinton made a mistake when she said she would make health insurance mandatory and anyone who didn't have it would be fined. Telling Americans who for years have been led to believe universal health care is a disaster that they will be forced to do anything is the wrong way to go about it. Of course universal health care is better than what we have now but some people don't know that. Far better to give them a choice between private and public. I'm thinking that over time, people will try both and learn the truth. The end result will be the same without anyone being forced to do anything.

I was wondering , why neither Obama / or / McCain.. have offered us americans the same medical insurance they receive ?  or better yet.  let them use the same insurance coverage they offer us.. haha joke...

I have very good medical insurance right now. My ( vanilla ) husband has been suffering from cancer for the last three years.    after extensive Radiation treatments which ranged from 35- 40 thousand a month which the insurance  paid for ( I had to pay a 100 dollar a month co-pay)
I also have the option to go to any hospital or dr that I choose. which was a god send when I had to look for a  surgeon when his cancer re appeared. now that surgery, and all his Doctors and surgeon bills totalled over 180.000, dollars.   which my co-pay was maybe around 600 dollars so far...

I would not wish any change in coverage except if I'm offered what Obama/McCain and their families are offered

Actually, Obama's plan DOES offer the same type of insurance senators get...it's the federal employees pool and it is extremely good coverage.  My mom has that insurance and I'd give my left arm for it even though I have pretty good coverage.  What I like is you can choose whether to keep your private coverage or join the government plan.  I don't see Obama's plan as forcing anything.  I see it as making insurance available to more Americans.

.....stamping foot....I don't see anyone that is voting for McCain supporting his
health care proposals.
....things that make me go hummm.....

Maybe because health care is not the only problem facing the next President.  I don't agree with McCain's proposal, and I don't agree with him on a lot of things.  But I agree with him a lot more than I do Obama.

Well at least you are honest, and voting on the issues.
I don't agree with Senator Obama 100% on all his proposals, either.

I guess you have to go with the one you agree with the most.

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: Let's get ready to rumble! Which candidates health care plan works for you! (11/2/2008 10:32:50 AM)

I find short falls in both of their proposals, first I agree the 5000$ wouldn't even begin to cover the cost of large family's,Diane's alone is over 400$ a month which is a pretty good plan which includes dental, eye care along with prescription coverage,I believe the best way to solve this problem is too let the employer cover 100% of their employees cost for a health insurance plan and allow 100% deduction on their taxes..I am retire military so I am pretty well taken care of myself.I believe socialized medicine isn't far down the road then we shall suffer, waiting long periods of time for elective surgery etc, just look at the mess in Canada and England, sure it looks good on paper but its currently a mess..just my three cents..bounty

....no it really isn't. My mother had breast cancer in the UK. It was treated speedily and efficiently. Her treatment was as good, if not better, than any in the world....and it was free at the point of delivery. No stress over payng for life saving treatment.....and if you think that's meaningless then you know jack shit about cancer.

i have to say, i get a bit miffed at people with no direct experience of the UK NHS criticising it so ignorantly. It has areas where it can improve.......but compared to the US it's a paradise....and i have lived in the US and had to deal with its health system.

Hillary Clinton's is the best.
