She's not the only one that has been duped by these guys.  In 2006, they impersonated the Canadian PM  Stephen Harper and fooled Jacques Chirac:   http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/411419/654597.

Outside of politics, they've also pulled the same prank on Bono, Mick Jagger, Bill Gates, and Donald Trump.  So, it's not like Sarah Palin is alone.

I  just listened to the actual call, and I'm positively thunderstruck.

When I have been around state-level politicians while they speak 'privately' to other powerful types, I have always heard them using language very differently from what they use in any other setting.  Sometimes they reveal that they are not alone in the room; other times they don't.  This is a significant matter, as it telelgraphs what degree of 'confidentiality' the caller or recipient might want. It's part of the opening gambit of every conversation I've ever heard. Like the difference between speaking into the headset or using the speaker-phone, it's part of the initial jockeying for position that goes on.

Politiciians speak to powerful people with great care; they chose their words carefully.  Tone of voice, pausing  or interrupting, etc. are also deliberate -- not implusive.  The politicians want something and so do the powerful people.

I don't think Palin even bothered to listen to what the 'President of France' was saying.  I cannot imagine what the giggling could posssibly have been about.  When the 'President of France' says 'my wife, she's so hot in bed', Palin should have reacted immediately.

WHAT?

France has just sexally harrassed the U.S.?

That should have been a  HIGH ALERT.

Sound bites have their place -- maybe.  But it sure isn't during a conversation with a powerful person in a 'private' setting.  I just cringe imagining Palin speaking to McCain if she were vice president.

Nothing says 'I have no respect for you' better than half-listening and giggling while the speaker is trying to finish a sentence.  Does she roll her eyes too?

Good grief.  After listening to this call, I wouldn't hire Palin in a law firm even as a supervisor of the support staff.  I am astounded I'm listening to Govenor of Alasksa.

There's just no excuse for this.

Meh.  I am a conspiracy theoriest!(is that the correct spelling?).
It was a set up, but not how people would like to believe.  Coming almost arm in arm with McCains comedy stint?  It was all pre planned.
