Americans always make this mistake. George III had no power or what power he had, he coulcn't use it without parliamentary consent. I can't remember which founding father it was with out looking it up (maybe someone can help here) but one of them said that the constitution was to defend the affluent majority from the poor majority. The US constititution, unlike the revolutionary Franch or Russian constitution was a conservative document which consolidated the power of the rich and powerful which is the reason why it survived while the revolutionary French and Russian ones didn't.

Wasn't it the founding fathers that decided to raise tax for a dtanding army to defend the country? That is what one would expect from a rich and powerful establishment. The poor don't need a standing army because they have nothing to lose.

Like any country, the US exists through the consensus of its citizens which means the government has to balance the interests of both the rich and the poor and like most countries, it skews its policies to benefit the rich and powerful more than the poor.

If you prefer the dream of the wild west, you could always go to Russia's wild east which is the nearest the world has to anarchy and freedom as anyone would want, along with the prospect of getting rich. It isn't difficult to get there either. My guess is that most people who claim to want real freedom don't really want such anarchy.
