ORIGINAL: MissSCD I am a Hillary girl. No way for McCain. I am terrified of Barack at the moment, but will probably vote democrat since that is the only thing I know to do. It is a shame that with as many people we have in the US, we cannot find two outstanding citizens to vote for. Regards, MissSCD I think your fear of Barack defines the potential for a massive "November Surprise" when people get into that booth with their conscience and prioritize their vote on the basis of not what we have been told to believe but what we ACTUALLY believe. It also depends greatly on the political temperature in the final days...another comment from Biden causing people to rethink the qualifications of Obama, how immature he is perceived to be by foreign despots who would "test" him, and other hurtful comments from idiots like Murtha call his constituents racist, and than settling for "redneck" that don't resonate well here in Pennsylvania. The man has been able to successfully change his politics like a cameleon changes color, beating Hillary and her wide experience on his "anti-war" stand as a State Senator from a liberal district, to gaining in the polls with the cratering in the stock market, even though his resume' does not show any strength in the arena of economics. McCain has the better record of warning of the risks and fighting in the U.S. Senate to strengthen regulation over the GSE's. The man can sure read those "words" well..and no question he has "charisma"....but not much else There is nothing new in the Obama's words promising government checks, democrats have done this forever. What is different this time is that people are running scared and it sure sounds attractive getting under the skirts of big governments protection. I'm scared too Miss SCD, like I have never been in my life. In past elections, no matter who the winner, I never doubted that if things didn't work out in four years we could change the power at the top of our government, and go in another direction. However, when people vote for an unknown but charismatic politician whose principle arguement is "Change" and a belief that he will calm the violent seas, expectations are built to such high levels and the seeds have been planted for major disappointment and resultant trauma and extreme reactions. The stakes are very high this time, critically high, and the battle lines are drawn between two distinct ideologies capitalism v socialism...blurred by panic at the moment. Truly a scary time.
