that theory should apply to everyone.

even the meanest of the mean can leave the darkside, right?

Sanity -> RE: Obama: Powell will have role in admin... (10/20/2008 8:31:20 PM)

Yeah. Before there weren't enough bad things to be said about the guy, and now he's just stupendous.

That's exactly my point.

Many of us are capable of forgiving and forgetting.
Mr. Powell did not INITIALLY realize, that President Bush was the type of person that
he turned out to be.
President Bush surely is one of the worse Presidents in history.
This is a surely his chance for redemption!

MzMia -> RE: Obama: Powell will have role in admin... (10/20/2008 8:34:44 PM)

I did not say he was "stupendous".
I have never thought of him that way.

I am sure Mr. Powell is troubled about his involvement
with the current administration.
After being involved with President Bush, he probably can't sleep
at night, is on medication and in therapy.
I would not be surprised if he wakes up screaming!

Mr. Powell NEEDS a postion with Senator Obama, to help him with his redemption.

Mz Mia and anyone interested, I highly recommend a PBS special on the behind closed doors activities of the current administration, you can watch the full series Online.

I don't understand the lack of experience argument it's as if people think leaders don't have advisors and therefore have to make all their decisions on their own without opinions from others around them. Obama added to his experience stock with Biden and now with Powell. McCain on the other hand has added lack of experience to his unarguable experience. If something was to happen to him Palin would take over, if something happens to Obama then Biden takes over, what option would people prefer?

Hmmm?  How to explain the lack of experience argument.

If I said George Bush would that help?

As I recall, he was under pressure for lack of experience, then he chose Cheney and everyone breathed a sigh of relief because he had such an experienced, trusted advisor.

I'm voting for Obama but ................?  You never know what you're getting until you open the package.

I recall the way so many Democrats used to talk about him, calling him "Colon" and calling Colin Powell and Condi Rice Bush's token or house _____s. Couldn't mention him without turning their heads and spitting and blaming him for Mai Lai.

But now he's just the most stellar guy.

Of course.

Apparently you missed the threads the past couple days when many of the Democrats on even this very thread were critical of him for those very things.

Especially for his part in promoting the nightmare we have in Iraq.

I am sorry, I can't watch the series.
I have been disliking President Bush for over 8 years.
I vividly remember when he was elected.
I could not stand to even look at the t.v.

I have seen 8 years of him as President.
I don't have good feeling towards him, which is obvious.
It is suffice to say, that I feel he is one of the worse Presidents in U.S. history.
To watch that show, would be like putting salt on my wounds.
I think he should have been impeached.

**Believe me I am being kind tonight.**[;)]

The lack of experience only applies to Palin. Obama will be surrounded by advisers like Powell. If something were to happen to McCain, Palin would sit isolated in the Oval Office having to run the nation by herself.

I think that's how it work from what I've gleaned from all the liberal Dem posters.

Sanity -> RE: Obama: Powell will have role in admin... (10/21/2008 6:02:11 AM)

I'm fairly certain that there's video floating around of Obama's "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright heaping some awfully vile hatred on Powell and Rice from the pulpit, too.

Oh yeah there is, and I found some of it. I'm sure there's worse out there...

So that's how it works! If somebody does something you don't like, you immediately go and find even more reasons to hate them and drag their name in the mud. So much for objective thinking [:D] .

Sanity -> RE: Obama: Powell will have role in admin... (10/21/2008 6:18:36 AM)

Where have I ever said I hate anyone? And the only mud in that post is the mud hurled by Obama's family preacher of some twenty years.

I'm a loving guy kitten. You should know that by now!

I've never bashed Powell. As I said before, knowing the military like I do, observing Bush and his actions, I've always supported Powell.

Thanks Vendaval, the wounds are still too fresh.
I peeked at the series, and it looks like it is worthing watching.
Maybe in a few years, when I am enjoying our new President.

Lucylastic -> RE: Obama: Powell will have role in admin... (10/22/2008 5:36:18 AM)

Vendeval, thank you so much for the link to the "Frontline" prog. I sat and watched last night.
I liked Powell and now, I feel the same
I dont see how he could have done anything more than he did without getting himself suddenly dead, but then maybe Im naive. heh

WASHINGTON – Colin Powell will have a role as a top presidential adviser in an Obama administration, the Democratic White House hopeful said Monday.
"He will have a role as one of my advisers," Barack Obama said on NBC's "Today" in an interview aired Monday, a day after Powell, a four-star general and President Bush's former secretary of state, endorsed him.

Ok, let's try to sort this out.

You said Democrats who previously criticized Powell were being hypocritical now that Powell endorsed Obama.

I pointed out that many Dems, including myself, on various recent threads have continued to be critical of Powell despite the endorsement.

How does what Wright said long before the endorsement was made rebut my point or support yours?

Without doing a thing the Obama ticket has the one who has no experience at the top, making the choice obvious (if it were to be made by that standard).

Like Obama, Palin could find people who have experience to lean on easily enough

She most certainly could.  But her mayorship was begun by hiring buddies who had no experience, Bush-like (remember Brown, Bremer, etc.?)

She does indeed have the physical capability to hire qualified people.  I see no reason that she would do so, however.

What exactly was it that "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright said that was untrue?
Or is it that you are uncomfortable with truth that you do not agree with?
