Marc2b -> Do I have to worry? (10/16/2008 5:44:31 PM)

Okay it’s like this:

For the record – I’ve already stated that I am going to vote for McCain because Obama is too far left for me. I have also stated that I am aware that in New York State this makes my vote a wasted vote (but it’s my vote, damn it, and I’m making it). This thread isn’t about who I am voting for or why. It’s the day after the election that I’m concerned about.

At this point I concede that it is probably Obama’s election and if that is the outcome, then on the morning of Wednesday, November the 5th, I’ll shrug my shoulders and then I’ll go to work.

Still, there are twenty days left to the election and McCain may pull off an upset, in which case I will shrug my shoulders and then go to work. It’s some of you I am worried about.

Seriously. I don’t think some of you on these boards could handle the let down. Do I have to be worried that some of you may get suicidal, pop a vein in your head, or go off the deep end in some other manner?

With the possible exception of Sanity, I don’t see the same kind of emotional investment in this election from those on the right (on these boards, not in society in general) as I do those on the left.

So, do I have to worry?

Come again?  There have been waaay more threads basing Obama than McCain.  But no, I don't think you have to worry about people who exercize their right to free speech or to vote....it's the ones who don't you need worry about.

Thanks for the endorsement byt the way...I look forward to a happy morning on November 5th as well.  Just not voting for the same candidate as yourself.

My buddy is TX is actually afraid of Obama.

Like everything as we know it is over with if he gets in.

What about the 8 year we now are existing?    The GOP has left this country, and the world in one heck of a mess.

I agree with S,

"now it is our turn" !

Marc.. thanks for your concern :)  Like you though, once I've cast my vote, I'll shrug my shoulders and return to work.

Yes please :-) . The more I smooch, the less I worry. Funny how that works [8D] .

Now THAT would be a great campaign slogan.

"IF I AM ELECTED THERE WILL BE MORE SMOOCHES AND LESS WORRYING".

I don’t know about that. My general impression is that the McCain Bashing Threads outnumber the Obama Bashing Threads about sixty/forty. But that’s not what I mean. I’m talking about how much emotional investment (again, just my general impression from what I have read) people seem to have in their candidate.

Not mandatory. You may if you wish.

kittinSol -> RE: Do I have to worry? (10/16/2008 6:17:13 PM)

The old version of the smoochies slogan went something like 'Make love, not war'

[sm=dance.gif][sm=flowers.gif][sm=sex.gif]               [sm=fight.gif][sm=axe.gif]

  Good.                                   Bad. Naughty. Evil.

You’re welcome but to be honest, you’re were never one of the ones I was worried about. You usually seem to have an even keel going.

Yup. Like Saint Francis (I’m pretty sure it was him) I believe in accepting the things you cannot change. It’s a good attitude to cultivate – saves a lot of stress.

I think what folks are going to have to worry about is not whether or not their favorite Democrat or Republican descends on the White House, but instead the killer---and I do mean a very savage form--- austerity that will be projected on them in the very near term.

I'm quite sure you could well have helped prevent dozens of suicides with your heartfelt concern, should Obama not win (god forbid, god forbid): I, for one, am taking your immense wisdom on board, and keeping my enthusiasm in check.

After all, the future does look bleak, whatever happens, and whatever side of the political divide you may find yourself on.

Edit, coz it was necessary.

I agree that wether it is President Obama or President McCain we are in for some very tough times ahead (Hell, the rough times have already started my family – this recession has hit our business hard), which is another reason while I’ll be shrugging my shoulders on November 5th.

dcnovice -> RE: Do I have to worry? (10/16/2008 7:16:37 PM)

There are several posters I'm already worried about.

bamabbwsub -> RE: Do I have to worry? (10/16/2008 7:21:20 PM)

~FR~

To be honest, I'm as concerned -- if not more so -- about those who fill the Congressional seats as who sits in the Oval Office. Being President carries a lot of power, but in the end, it's Congress that passes or fails a proposed bill. And due to my Congressmen's passing of the "bailout" bill, which I was against, I'll be voting AGAINST every incumbent in office. So there! [:'(]

TheHeretic -> RE: Do I have to worry? (10/16/2008 7:27:13 PM)

I'll be at my desk, one way or another.  I don't think anybody I know is going to jump off a bridge, but, we might need to be patient with a few people if McCain pulls it out of this dive. [;)]

Sanity -> RE: Do I have to worry? (10/16/2008 7:37:25 PM)

Don't worry about me, Marc. I'd hang around just to say I told you so when it all goes to shit if Obama's elected, and I know that power always swings both ways. With Obama and Pelosi and Reid running the show, in four years we'll be headed for a GOP landslide that would make Jimmy Carter PROUD of the job he did holding Ronald Reagan off.

I'm interested in this election because I love my country, but I'm not worried about myself or my family regardless of what a Democratic trifecta may bring. Like a good boy scout, I'm prepared for another depression, probably better than most.

But... still. It's good to know I'm in your thoughts, Marc. I hope you don't stay up too many nights losing sleep thinking about me.     [;)]

Me too. There have been posters I have been worried about since day one. [:D]   But, despite the cynicism of some, I have – after two years on these boards – developed a certain fondness for this weird little community of CM posters (even the one’s that irk the shit out of me sometimes).
