You might find this of interest, Raymond. It lists the numbers killed in WWII. Please note the paltry number of American casualties as a percentage of population compared to, say, the French, the British and, especially, another ally, the Soviet Union. Of course, the Americans showed up two years after the war started, because they were content to let others die in a war the winning of which was of direct benefit to them. I've noted, though, how often Americans like to pat themselves on the back that they "saved" Europe. If they'd shown up when everyone else did, there might be some claim to that. As it was, they only helped to finish the job that others had started. Incidentally, my father, an American who saw action during the war, agreed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties
