I've had a thought today and yes my brain now hurt's
Now i know this is a BDSM web site / discussion boards but there are things we all like to do and not because we are kinky, not because we are nilla, just because we are.
I personally love to read, listen to music singing and dancing along, generally making a fool of myself and i love to shop, especially for shoes. I live on my own so get to do these things as often as i like. When Sir is here it's a totally different ball game of course.
When Sir is here to be honest i don't do any of them, time is too precious with him to waste reading etc. But for those of you who live together i would assume you do do the things you love. But how do they fit into your life? Are you given specific time to do them? Are you allowed to do them pretty freely?
Also i think it would be nice to get to know some of you better and what you like to do aside from the D/s stuff we always talk about. I don't know about you lot but there is very little i really know about posters here. I know Softness has bad taste in music and is a proper Brit girl who serves tea from a tea pot. I know twicehappy loves motorbikes and all that goes with them. I know LaT loves her dogs. But that really is about it, which considering i personally have been on this site about two years seems pretty sad to me.

I'm an author. Between work and obligations, I try to squeeze in some writing time, and I take an entire month (November) where I participate in a worldwide novel writing escapade called National Novel Writing Month -- 50,000 words in 30 days, and my -only- activities involve either putting in my hours for The Man or putting in my hours on my current novel's construction.

Other than this, I read voraciously (go figure), enjoy cooking (I am going to be -so- relieved to move into our new place, with a kitchen one can actually move -around- in), and am involved in the Slow Foods and Locavore movements in our area.

Oh... and I'm afraid that I'm addicted to True Blood, House, and Fringe. *sighs* Those consume three hours a week of my valuable time.

When I have time, I play Worlds of Warcraft and a couple of other video games. I used to do 'table gaming' -- in particular AD&D -- but it seems that nobody has the patience for that any more.... and thanks to an awesome person right here on CM, I have my beloved Ecco the Dolphin back!!!!

Though it is really more -work- than -hobby-, I use a healthy portion of my 'not workin' for The Man' hours doing pastoral care among (if you'll forgive me the expression) all the -rest- of the 'freaky communities'. Its something I love, though, so it's sort of a toss-up whether it's a hobby or a job.

Ok, so I'm a geek and a freak... but it works for me. *grins*

good morning miss     i haven’t been posting on the threads much, but i love this topic so here i am!  i spend a goodly amount of time on these boards, and i’m looking forward to learning of others here!  i’m glad you started this …. thanks

Dauntless and i don’t live together, but we spend every weekend together and squeeze in any other time we can, plus vacations and trips and yada yada.  when we’re together, aside from the bdsm and sex aspects of our lives that happens naturally and often     He has a Harley Road King we love to ride and we’re involved in Abate so do a lot with that group.  we like bar hopping.  and we’re pretty involved with “lifestyle” friends and events, which keeps us pretty busy.  Daunt also loves to sail (He owns a 39’ sailboat He’s workin on so we can start sailing perhaps next year).

as to when i’m not with Him, i ~ play Texas hold’em, which i play mostly on line but do play in person as often as possible ~ reading … i love to read!  i’m currently starting book 10 of the Wheel of Time series (after i finish the Wheel series, i’m going to read the Gor series again, more deeply than i have in the past, as i wish to learn of the philosophies in them) ~ i watch several tv shows without fail *grinz … Dancing With The Stars, NCIS, CSI-Vegas, Project Runway, Saving Grace ~ and to be honest, i enjoy being home and being kinda lazy (but that’s changing the more i’m around Dauntless.  oh!  and i’m making an afghan and enjoy crocheting and plastic canvass.

and as to when i do the things i like?  mostly during the week when i’m not with Him.  although i admit, the stuff we do on the weekend i love too so *big smiles*  i’m a pretty darn happy woman.

well wishes to you and your Sir,
gemmie

My hobby was part of my life. Long hours days at sea nothing to do but learn the ropes...literaly.   Take small line boil it in saltwater until bleached white and nicely stiff.

Then tie in intricat patterns and knots and designs.   Whooppsss   would that line and knots look better around some soft flesh??    Yes indeed love my hobby more now with a willing slave!

I am an artist.  I make dolls, jewelry, create watercolors and sculpture.  When I was with the X he made sure I took those hobbies up to the next level.  He took me to a few conventions to promote my crafts and encouraged me to sell my wares in various venues.  He made sure I had time to do what I love.  And gave me the knowlege that I didn't have to spend all my time doing things for others, sometimes things were about what I love doing.
I miss that.

Darcy and I love music.  We go to gigs regularly and have copious and sickening amounts of music DVDs, CDs Vinyls, boxed sets and blah.  Darcy is a mashup DJ - although his writing and photography has taken over these days.

We love films.  Again, obscene amounts of DVDs and collecters additions, boxed sets and directors cuts.  Darcy is a huge Horror and Action film lover.  He has written and performed music for one and participates in numerous forums etc.

The family all play games - board and video.  We are big rockband and guitar hero fans.  Darcy plays bass guitar.  I paint and draw.  I do tarot.  I can cook to cuisine standard.  I love taking photographs and I swear misst - I am going to get you in front of the lens eventually (and soft).  We like the theatre.  I am big on old musicals like the King and I and Oklahoma.  I love bagpuss and Trap door.  I collect elephants.  I love plants and gardening.  Darcy is a huge StarWarsgeekboy.  He is currently on the last parts of his rock history semi biographical account of Notts.  I'm busy getting a new portfolio together.  I lovelovelove my two parakeets - Ruby and Spark.  We also have two guinnea pigs and a hedgehog hibernating in our compost heap.  I like shoes and black vest tops of all kinds.

We love Dexter!

I have a letter from Thom Yorke on the death of my best friend.  We like myspace so yaboosucks to those that don't.  Darcy loves real bitter and I drink Irish cream.

And we rock(like you).

Compared to everyone else this is going to sound boring, but I love TV.  I'm an extra for a TV show called Friday Night Lights, which is probably the best TV show you're not watching.

I also do cat rescue, but I really can't call that a "hobby."  More like my life, and the money I make working goes to fund it:)

Me hmm hy hobbies change all the time but I seem to have three consistant ones, reading all my life ive loved the escapism of fiction and myth. Unfortunatly Sir doesnt much like fiction however we recently bought a few books, and i fit it in by reading to him, he doesnt like reading much but loves learning so it works great for us.

Photography this one is easy to fit in, Sir likes walking and visiting new places and I just take my camera along for the ride.

Writing, stories normally, but with Sir I write a journal which placates my desire to write and its something he can get involved in too, in that he gets to read it, so i include little fantasy things and all that stuff to allow my imgination to keep working.

I find this really interesting.  Photography and BDSM peeps seem to go hand in hand.  I wonder why that is?

Hobbies...

I sing.  By which I mean, I sing in the shower, in the car, in the kitchen, when I think no-one is around at group, when everyone has gone to bed, in a choir, in the mock recording studio the Ex and I put together in his sitting room...  I sing lots.  It makes me happy, especially the cheesy stuff, Victoria, Vaughn Williams, Stanford...  I get all happyness filled.

I bake/cook etc.  See CMunch for examples of food.  Though, my fairy cakes have been going wrong of late and needing large quantities of butter cream to rescue them.

I write.  Poetry and prose (and I have tried my hand at music, but, I can either do lyrics, or melody, but not both together as yet).  Like Calla, I'm doing NaNo this year, for the first time... plotting ideas in the shower for characters and such like.

I played piano, until I lost mine to an exploding fridge.

I read, especially things with vampires and warewolves and witches as cast members.

I (on and off now) act as a volunteer counsellor, either for people with mental health difficulties, or adolescent self harmers/abuse sufferers/survivors/rape victims.  I was a Peer Supporter (read part of the University Counselling Service) at College.  My problem with this is a lack of availability of decent supervision, so I tend not to do this as much as I would like.

I spend some time, but not much, at scene events.  I probably average at 2 per month, with one being CMunch.

I love music, and will listen (and sing along to) lots of different styles/genres.

I have the TV on in the background quite frequently, Studio 60, Burn Notice, Life, West Wing, Merlin, Dr Who, Torchwood are shows I actually *watch*, CSI is a show that nicely fills the silence.

I collect stuffed Eeyores.  I *heart* Eeyore.
