I agree Owner, picking her makes a farce of his "Country First" mantra....but I also believe the strategy was flawed in that he did not ascertain just how big a bimbo she was and how much baggage she brought along....surely there was another way to energise his base without alienating so completely the centrist, moderate and other undecided voters

just how big a bimbo she was

And right there is why you didn't get the reply you were hoping for...

No need to get mad at me because she's a bimbo..it is my opinion ,and apparently the opinion of a large segment of America that she was picked for all the wrong reasons and one of them being lack of a penis...she is practically ,again IMO ,the text book definition of a bimbo...thats not partisan, that comes from listening to her try to answer a simple question....(see Katie Couric interview) again if that offends you Rich my apology....but I didn't place her on the ticket McCaine did....

After some reflection Rich I do apologise ,there was no need for me to charecterise her as a bimbo....it was uncalled for and it does tend to take this conversation in the wrong direction(not to mention being insulting to bimbo's,I couldn't resist that last part lol)But seriously I do apologise.

As a question of strategy, I think you would have to file the selection of Sarah Palin as his VP running mate under, "It seemed like a good idea at the time." As a previous poster mentioned, if they had just vetted her more, maybe they would have avoided all this "Wassila 90210" crap. As it is, she's pulling him down in the polls at a crucial moment. Nice convention bump, yes... but unsustainable when you have someone as your running mate who can't point out Darfur on a fucking map...

Now John McCain can relate to how George Bush Sr. felt, when he chose Dan Quwayle.

He did it due to Hillary.

She was clogging the tv- her big smile and a full house crowd cheering.

then Obama did not pick her as VP.

so- this is his way of saying- the left talks, and I walk the walk.

it was a brilliant move.

what is a mystery is how the attention span is- per the financial mess.

I guess we will know in a few weeks.    or maybe not...

I somewhat agree. I think it started out as a brilliant move, but not so much anymore.
He could have picked another woman and probably slammed dunked his victory home considering how at odds the Democratic party was with each other, especially with HRC not getting the VP pick. Instead, Palin seems to be uniting the Democratic party back together and I really don't think would have happened otherwise. McCain should have never taken the focus off the discord between HRN/Obama but his very pick did just that.
