Pastor Arnold Conrad:
"I also would also pray, Lord, that  your reputation is involved in all that happens between now and November, because there are millions of people around this world praying to their god--whether it's Hindu, Buddha, Allah--that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons.  And Lord, I pray that you will guard your own reputation, because they're going to think that their God is bigger than you, if that happens.  So I pray that you will step forward and honor your own name with all that happens between now and election day."

Along with silly and laughable, aren`t those comments to God,blasphemy?

I've always been amazed that the devout don't feel God's up to the job, so politics has to step in.

It's interesting. Most people seem to thing that saying "God Damnit." is a way of breaking the third commandment. But, I was told that it is probably a very small, inconsequential sin. No, the real intent of the idea behind "Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain..." is to not use God to lend authority to any earthy concern. i.e. you're not to claim that God belongs to "us," while claiming God hates "them."

At least, that's the way I was brought up to believe. (Back when I did believe in that stuff.) In other words, every time the GOP claimed that they were the "party of God" they were insulting/sinning against him.

...just sayin'.

'Cause, you know, when Obama wins, up in Heaven all the other Gods will point at the Lord God, making the "L" gesture at him against their foreheads, and laugh, and laugh and laugh....
And the Lord God will stamp his foot, and petulently say, "You guys suck!" and will then run off to his room, slam the door, and flop on his Godly bed to cry softly into the heavently comforter.
"My Reputation is runied!" God will cry, "Curse you Obama, how could you win the election on Earth, in the US, when I'm so clearly only on the side of the GOP?!"
(sniff, sniff...)

Yeah... good question! HOW COULD Obama possibly be ahead in the polls as he is, if God WERE on the side of the republicans?

Ridiculous.

MissSCD -> RE: McCain speaker/pastor threatens God,help defeat Obama or else....not kidding (10/13/2008 8:04:54 PM)

I am amazed that my Pastor is staying out of this.  I am so proud.   He is preaching it out of the Bible like he should.

Regards, MissSCD

Mike, Mike, Mike, easy...I learned from Barack who "shamelessly" lied to the American public saying he had "no idea" what his Pastor was preaching.  He only threw Jerimiah under the bus after the Pastor called him..."a politician doing what he had to do", or words to that affect.
So my saying "Amen" after a prayer at a "political rally" is "shameless"??...chuckles

The world is batting 1.000. Every time I think I've seen everything somebody steps up and again I stand corrected. It seems the epitome of stupidity has not been reached, as unlikely as that might seem.

I caught that on Olbermann, and...seriously? Anyone else think the conservatives are setting the world's biggest Rickroll? And what if Obama wins? Will all these people start worshipping the Devil?
Furthermore, not only was what this guy said woefully blasphemous, but it's outstandingly ignorant. Seriously, Hindu? A freakin' GOD?! And did he say he acknowledges other gods? I kinda, sorta Christians couldn't do that.

One might hope that when they lose, such people might examine the reasons why perhaps their God allowed it to happen, and thereby through an examination of their faith and works derive a position which their God might better support to victory.

Sadly though it would rather seem that any loss will be accounted to the deceits and schemings of the ungodly, so pushing such people to what may likely be even more extreme positions.

And never once understanding that their blasphemy, their heretical allusions and their outright shamelessly sinful attitudes and actions would make any victory on their part something in which their Lord would take no pleasure whatever.

They can acknowledge other gods, they just can't worship them.

Owner, why does it matter?  I rarely agree with you, but I do respect you and your opinion.  We have nutters on both sides of the political aisle.  I don't listen to the fanatics on the left, because I know they don't represent the core of Obama supporters.  I don't listen to the fanatics on the right, because they don't represent me.  I did not support John McCain in the primaries.  But he won.  He's closer to my choice than Obama, that's why I support him.  I don't denigrate Obama, and you've never seen me do that here.  I consider him an honorable man.  I just don't agree with him.  I do not equate him with all of his supporters.  I don't equate McCain with all of his supporters.  I don't like the Christian fundamentalists any more than you do.  I think they're fucking weirdos.  I think the same thing about New Age, animal rights weirdos that support Obama.  But I don't equate Obama with those people.

I feel it is time to break the tension with a song. One I would like to dedicate to Mr. McCain...and I do so with the full knowledge that God, Hidu, Buddah. Zeus, Aphrodite, Venus and the rest of the Diety Posse back me because my god is bigger than your god and he/she/it said so.  [:'(] [:'(] [:'(] [:'(] Neener Neener Neener.  -all said with a perfectly straight face-
God thinks all blacks are obsolete farm equipment
God thinks the Jews killed his son and must be punished
God thinks the white man is Satan
God, they know what God thinks

God thinks we should all convert to Judaism
God thinks we must all be Christians and
God thinks we should all embrace Islam
God thinks the only true religion is Hinduism

And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're a waste of flesh
God prefers an Atheist

God God
God thinks all people like you are hateful
God thinks all people like you are an embarrassment to creation
self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw a stone
and using His name for your own protection

God thinks the sun revolves around the Earth
God thinks there was something very wrong with Copernicus
God thinks abortion is murder and
God thinks everything that science gave us is wrong
God thinks women deserve it
God thinks AIDS is a form of punishment

I hate people who blame the Devil for their own shortcomings and
I hate people who thank God when things go right

And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're an idiot
God prefers a heretic

God God
God thinks all people like you are hateful
God thinks all people like you are an embarrassment to creation
self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw the stone
and using His name for your own agenda

God is a liberal
God is a democrat
God wants you to vote republican
never trust a man who puts his words in the mouth of god
and says it's absolute truth

its lies and it smells like death
its all in a day's work taking money from the poor
Why do you think that God would need your dirty money
if he want to start a holy war?

self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw a stone
and using His name for your own protection

God thinks puppies need to die and
God thinks babies need to drown
'cause God is neither good nor bad
God is you and me
God is Everything

Seriously, what year was church and state seperated? There is a reason for that you know. The diety posse said so.

(edited to add the smileys...I dont use them often enough to know how they work)

As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Treaty of Tripoli, 1797 (article 11).

bipolarber -> RE: McCain speaker/pastor threatens God,help defeat Obama or else....not kidding (10/14/2008 6:00:58 AM)

Yup. Obama distanced himself from Wright, because of the dust up, of the TV news taking one 20 second clip out of the entire guy's 20 year career out of context, and playing it over, and over, and over... ( so much for this "liberal media" bullshit )  But then...

John McCain STILL hasn't distanced himself from "pastor" Hagee. Hagee, who has a three decade long history of being racist, of anti-semtisim, and has called for violence against GLBT folks. So I guess McCain must still subscribe to Hagee's teachings then? Or how about all those lovely news clips of McCain cozying up to Falwell? Yeah, those of us who are kinky and GLBT, we all remember what Falwell stood for, with his daily sermons demonizing us. Yup, McCain proves, over and over, that it's not "country first" as his campaign tries to claim, but rather "election first."

Yeah, cory, you got us there! LOL
