housemouse61 -> Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 10:42:36 AM)

While attending a recent local event, a couple of sub friends and i were discussing the pros and cons of a kneeling position vs. a standing position during an impact play scene.  They preferred standing because it was less intense and they could withstand longer sessions this way.  Kneeling, in their minds, made everything too taught thereby making the sensations more intense, which, in turn, made it difficult to withstand a long session.  i, on the other hand, prefer kneeling because it is more intense.  Also, because i have somewhat weak ankles and Master always has me in stilletos during a scene this means that i'm not only trying to concentrate on the sensations; but also trying to make sure i keep my balance and don't twist or injur my ankles, which is difficult to do when W/we play heavy.  A kneeling position allows me to experience fully all the sensations Master is giving me without the worries.  i can, in essence, relax and enjoy.  As for the added intensity...well, that's just bonus for me.  Bottom line, though, i'll take it anyway i can get it...even standing on my head, if need be.  But, if asked my preference, it would definitely be kneeling.

So, i'm curious what other submissives/slaves think on the issue.  And there are, perhaps, even a few Doms/Dommes who have a preference for different reasons as well.

I dislike both.
I am more comfortable with some kind of support.  Whether that is over something, on my back or stomach or suspended somehow.

Good point, the.dark.  i probably should clarify that when i say kneeling; i'm thinking of on a spanking/kneeling bench or some other similar device.  i couldn't keep my balance free-kneeling, as it were.  *chuckles*  ;-)  Thank you for responding.

softness -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 11:06:47 AM)

My personal preference will always go for standing ... feet shoulder width apart, arms out to the sides with something to get a firm grip onto. Storng body position for me is better to absorb the impact of the heavier blows (impact play usually consisting of whips and floggers - not much of a cane/paddle girl) A nice solid cross is my personal favourite.

I have some lower back nasties which can run down through hips into knees so I find kneeling for extended periods of time very uncomfortable and in the end it just ruins the play. Being on all fours is oddly even more uncomfortable - shame really and I hope it sorts out soon ... ruining my coffee table slave routine!

I too generally prefer standing. If the impact is only going to a certain level, like whips, floggers and paddles....a bench can be nice. If it is going above that into full force punching, body slamming, or knee blows powerful enough to lift me off the ground or move me a considerable distance, I like to be up against a cross or wall....or even standing bent over against a bench. I then usually like it best if at least the lower half of my body is not bound so I can position myself to absorb the blows, rather than just be impacted about and risk dislocating a hip or something. Bent over somewhat at the waist, feet apart, arms firmly bracing myself.

I think thats the key .. is being in a body position suitably strong for what you are doing ... its why I *hate* playing in high heels ... I am not stable enough and feel distinctly teetering ... so I always go bare foot if I can do.

DesFIP -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 11:47:38 AM)

High heels + standing + any force forward or back = disaster here. I need to be supported so I don't stagger and fall.
Another vote against high heels, if anyone's counting.

persephonee -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 12:12:08 PM)

i cant wear heels at all...even to stand in. i resemble a drunken pig on stilts...and i require crutches to walk. i once fell off my heels while standing and leaning against a wall...didnt move a muscle...just toppled over. Not even close to hot...but way funny.
When i play i play barefoot. And i prefer the cross or suspension.

I actually like lieing down. Once we got our bondage table the horse began to gather dust. The table is the perfect height ever since he cut down the legs. I can't kneel because of injuries sustained to my right knee during my youth and standing for long periods of time puts strain on an already stressed spinal column though standing is easier than kneeling. Standing, too, is harder on Himself because I'm a bit height challenged so he has to work to reach my ass which is one of his favorite body parts. The table is win-win for both of us. [:)]

I'm not fond of heels for play either unless they are boots with a good wide heel, then the height doesn't seem to matter so much.

I enjoy a bondage table too but find that will still only work up to a certain level of impact. We enjoy play where he will come down hard on my back with both hands. If I am standing for it it's like a huge, powerful shove that knocks my breath away. If I am lying on something solid like the table it is crushing in a bad way. Also, very heavy impact on my hips while lying has caused my hip to dislocate previously. I don't really understand the mechanisms of it all but it seems that standing and even offering opposing resistance keeps it all firmly in place.

IvyMorgan -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 2:29:15 PM)

I'm a "put top half of self on a table, and then kneel the bottom half of self next to the table" kind of girl.

I really can't do standing up well.  Wait, that's not true.  I can do standing up for hours, but I'm less likely to be enjoying it, and won't find subspace.

Kneeling down, I go all drifty and bliss like, and then even noisy stage shows every 20 minutes with an annoying compare won't make too too much of a negative impact.

housemouse61 -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 3:38:04 PM)

When i'm on the spanking bench or a kneeling bench or on all fours; wearing high heels isn't an issue for me.  But, like others, i don't like them when i'm in a standing position during impact play.  But, Master likes the look of them whether i'm kneeling or standing.  If it makes Him happy i can deal.  i just *prefer* to be kneeling.  And without the worry of my feet slipping out from under me while hanging from a cross or other apparatus (sp?) i get into that "headspace" much faster and more easily.

And since i'm such a wobbly lil mouse after heavy play  (standing or kneeling), Master keeps hold of me and makes certain i'm sitting safely before He steps away to gather up His implements, etc.  It's all good!  :-)

silkncarol -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 4:03:07 PM)

I gotta vote standing leaning or lieing down.....cross, table or i can become one with a wall.  I have old knees so kneeling ends up hurting like hell after a short time....and for me heels suck big time..they look great, but after awhile i end up concentrating on my aching feet, or trying to stay balanced from the impact, so much, that i can't focus on the play and sensation.

<laugh> after all...it is about me right?

daddysliloneds -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 4:05:58 PM)

i prefer standing, with arms overhead and out-stretched, preferably bound to something so i don't have to worry about falling down; leaves for the full 360 degree impact play and allows my body to sway in and out of each blow.

housemouse61 -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 4:58:10 PM)

Oh!  That is fun!  Thanks for reminding me, daddyslilloneds.  ;-)

Oh, Master.....??? *hehehe*

leakylee -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 5:16:11 PM)

i prefer standing with something to hold onto. i move wayy to much to feel overly safe kneeling. like everyone else the whole heel thing, i wear them there, then poof gone. the bondage table is good for some of the impact, but i still prefer standing. mainly because it is a shorter and direct descent to the floor. cross feet, collapse, and i am there. i also find it easier to brace myself for heavier swings, and to keep my brain stilled when the whips swing.

I consider myself lucky that my Sir wants me naked - and doesn't like high heels!!!!!  He wants me barefoot thank goddess. If i had to wear high heels, i'd break an ankle within 10 minutes!

my favourite position is lying on his medical table. I don't have to think about staying erect, or letting go when i start to fly.
One position i enjoyed is on the table , face up with my legs tied over my head. He whipped my inner thighs and butt, and a good time was had by all.    Hurt like hell!!! [:D]                    I do have to say - at the time, i wasn't sure i was enjoying it.

Sunnyfey -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 5:38:11 PM)

you know what an intersting one is? A massage chair. You know the ones you rest your face in and you kind of straddle it or if you get the good ones you can kind of kneel on it leaving your thighs free for a target. personally theres this one...table thing we have, not a bondage table. Its a large square top with about 4 inches of foam rubber  padding and  its just long enough form me to lay my chest across and sort of hang my chin over the side. leaves everything free for a target, and i am never tired after laying on it.

QandA -> RE: Impact Play: Kneeling vs. Standing (10/13/2008 6:33:24 PM)

I've been on a cross only one time, and that was to experience the only flogging I've ever had.  (Loved it... can't wait to try it again!!)  The cross itself was tilted away from me somewhat so I was able to lean against it, and the cuffs were the really cool ones that have the grip handle built into them... the weight of my arms was being supported by the grips, the cuffs were just there in case I spaced and let go.

The impact play that Q and I do now is mostly spanking, with some light paddling and play with the crop thrown in once I'm nice and warmed up.  I'm a very light-impact type of girl.  At parties we typically head to a spanking bench where my weight is being fairly evenly distributed between my knees and my torso.

I like the benches, though I could wish the top pieces were an inch or so closer to the leg pieces... may even just half an inch.  I'm short -- five foot nothin -- and when I kneel on most benches I'm pretty much stuck in one position.  I know, I know... that's kind of the point. *grin*  However, I'd love to have at least a little bit of wiggle room.  I'd like to be able to move on the bench a little more... even if it's just to wiggle my butt at him as I beg for more.

lil Aidan
