It doesn't work on me because as soon as I find out that one side lied and/or distorted facts to bash his opponent I no longer trust them. But, a lot of people don't bother to look any deeper so I guess for them it might swing their vote. You know, a lot of people don't want to try very hard. They really want the "cliff notes" version of who to vote for and 30 second ads are perfect for that. "No brain cells were strained in the viewing of this commercial"

Specifically, what "negative campaigning" are we talking about.  From what I have heard, this campaign is rather tame compared to some in the recent and long ago past.  Presidential Politics is a game played by big boys..."negative campaigning"...??  If a guy running for the top office in the land can't take the heat withhout whinning and whimpering like a sissy, maybe he's the wrong guy...dontcha think??  wink wink...
ROFLMAO...you are priceless Cory.....I look forward to listening to you bitch for the entirety of Obama's Presidency.

I plan on drinking alot. Maybe I'll forget most of it.

Don't bother. I've been doing that since 2000. It doesn't help really. All I have to show for it is a damaged liver. Try losing yourself in empty sex with lots of annonymous partners... maybe that will work better... (at least you'll be getting some cardio...)
