LATEXBABY64 -> It is tourist season again (10/11/2008 8:10:02 AM)

The question is come up a lot of times on many boards and threads about what a real lifestyle person is or just someone that dabbles.    Everyone says depends on a persons point of view. What is lifestyle anything.  vegan lifestyle. rock n roll lifestyle  church lifestyle  shrugs

I do not think there is really a lifestyle.  I think there are different degrees of people that do bdsm and spend more or less time doing ds thing but when it comes to social culture ideas  on any  level   there is really not such a thing  one would more say maybe hobbiest,  even thoes that call them seleves pro
pro at what  whats your certification to say your a pro.  those that come and experiment the tourist because the fashion herd turds said it was cool to do lol.    I think it is more about self discovery
whats your view on lifestyle definition

In my book a pro is someone who charges money to top or bottom. The good ones earn it.

I'm not ever going to sneer at someone as being a 'tourist' or 'fashionista' simply because they try something and decide it doesn't work in reality for them. Who am I to tell someone else what they do or do not need? And how can anyone know without trying if it appeals in reality or just in fantasy?

Why are you wasting your time judging others' choices?

CallaFirestormBW -> RE: It is tourist season again (10/11/2008 8:25:29 AM)

I don't live a 'lifestyle', I just live. I belong to a couple of communities, but since I don't do things "right", there is always some debate about whether I 'belong' there. Since whether I 'fit in' is less relevant to me than whether I am satisfied with the life I have and how I'm making use of it, what someone else thinks about the choices I've made or will make are pretty irrelevant.

People will judge where they judge. They may decide I'm not "lifestyle" because I don't own a house or a fancy dungeon, regardless of the fact that I -do- manage my money, and that money management determination, for the last several years, said that a house in our location and in the existing economy was a crap investment right now. They may decide I'm not "lifestyle" because I don't wear leather or 6" heels, because I'm fat or prefer to dress comfortably most of the time. They may decide I'm not "lifestyle" because I don't carry my crop on my belt all day, or have my servants run around naked in the house all the time. To paraphrase Clark Gable, "Frankly, I don't give a damn." What you see is what you get -- and I can still run a mean household, whether the masses consider me a "tourist" or not. Hell, I've lived below the Mason-Dixon for 30 of my 46 years, and I'm -still- a Damned Yankee by many accounts.

i think you just missed the point    read the last part

myotherself -> RE: It is tourist season again (10/11/2008 8:28:51 AM)

What's to define?  People do what people want to do.  If you're interested enough to want to socialise and network with other people who like doing similar things, then go for it.  If not, it doesn't automatically categorise you as anything other than someone who's not interested in socialising and networking with others who do similar things.  *shrugs*

As for being a Pro...if you charge for your services and you get paid, then you're a Pro.  In much the same way as there are amateur golfers and pro-golfers.  Doesn't necessarily mean you are better at what you are doing than an amateur, only that you've made the decision to take pay for it.

I have no views on it.
I live my life.
Everyone else lives their life.
That's all there is to it.

Yes, it is tourist season again and snow birds are starting to flock..i live in Florida.

i have always had a deep thirst for self discovery. Because of this thirst i have woven a patchwork collage of who i am and my way of living, with the knowledge that more will be added to my collage as well as taken away.

You know what they say: "Sooo many tourists and so few bullets."

I don't know what this thread has to do with tourism. We are lifelong tourists, if you can find nothing new to experience in life it's time to jump off egg rock.

ApathyRomance -> RE: It is tourist season again (10/11/2008 9:26:04 AM)

I live in Maine.  They are all gone . . .

DesFIP -> RE: It is tourist season again (10/11/2008 10:55:50 AM)

Here it's prime season. Fall foliage at its peak Columbus Day weekend. Hay rides, pumpkin picking, corn mazes.

Trying to talk the teen into going to the corn maze. Can't do it myself because I'd never find my own way out!

oceanwynds -> RE: It is tourist season again (10/11/2008 10:56:25 AM)

Apathy may i please send the tourist back?

It's cute how the tourist season comes to Collarme right when the tourist season in the real world ends.

No, Ocean, you may not.  I grilled them organic burgers all summer and had to listen to them whine.  I get 8 months free now!

What's wrong with checking things out? If you aren't curious, you'll never learn anything! I'll admit, I am a nosy butt... If something appeals to me, I want to try it. That's how i found out...
1) I'm not cut out for the Army, but....
2) Rappelling and skydiving is fun
3) A few needles are ok but...
4) Staples are fucking hot
5) Strippers are cute but...
6) The pinup/classic culture is HOT
7) New cars are ok but...
8) Classic hotrod beaters are sexy as hell
9) Dressing up for halloween is ok but...
10) Building animatronics, dressing up for a month, and running a haunted house is a shit ton of fun.

Why not? Let people be curious! It's how you learn!

Nah.  The real tourist season is in the Spring.  Every year, like clockwork, here at collarme.  Okay, maybe it's not tourist season, but it's definitely horny season for men!

At the last Leeds munch a me and a mate were sharing a pint (bar was waaayyy to busy to queue for one each so we slummed it) and a fag and decided that there is something in the air in autumn ...the Leeds munch is usually fairly busy, with a healthy influx of newbies (either to the Leeds munch in particular or BDSM in general) .. but September's munch was *flooded* with proper shiny newbies ...

Me and pint sharing mate decided it must be something to do with being locked up with the kids all summer ... all that pent up frustration of not getting any adult time ... needs to vent after the UMs are back at school

I no longer subscribe to grandiose notions of self-discovery, but for me it's a case of this is who I am: I like authority, I think I have a lot to offer in that position of authority. At this point, I can't see a change in the future.

I'm a professional photographer, I went from amatuer/hobbyist to professional when I began getting paid to show up with my camera.  That's the only distinction of a professional, they get paid, no certificate needed.

I have never had an issue with newbies in general (specific newbies on occasion, yes).  Everyone was a newby at some point.  I didn't pick up my first riding crop until I was 4.  Everyone starts someplace :)
