it does make you wonder....

Who is going to set the interest rates and in whose interest?  Euroland has this argument even though the European Central bank is supposed to be impartial. In reality, the Euro bank sets the rates best for Germany because that is the powerhouse of the European economy, small countries like Ireland can go and take a hike when it comes to such decisions because setting the interest rate for them won't do much for the rest of Euroland.

Beck is a loud mouthed liar. How he keeps his job is beyond me.

bipolarber -> RE: Glen Beck mentions 1 world currency (10/10/2008 2:56:34 PM)

Yeah, that's like saying "John Lovitz's pathological liar says cars can be run on piss and cheese whiz!"

Glenn Beck rules, and if he really was a "liar" there is no way a company like CNN would keep him around. Not with him standing where he does.

I was a little confused by this when I first saw the subject, as if Glenn Beck was supporting the concept behind 1 world currency. Listening to the video and knowing how he is there is no way that I'd believe he would support such a thing.

DomKen -> RE: Glen Beck mentions 1 world currency (10/10/2008 3:34:46 PM)

Beck's claims in that video are lies. Check for yourself. Check google news for "china world currency " and any variants that make you happy. No such news story. Then check the same for his claim about France in the same video. Nadda.

Just two quick links I discovered.

The chinese newspaper article didn't call for a single currency but for a move away from the dollar as the defacto currency of international trade. And it the editorial appeared on Sept 17. Beck's comments came after  Tuesday's debate. Sept. 17 is not the week before Oct.8. So Beck's statement is still non factual.

The other link is to a website of some sort of conspiracy theorist. When I went and found the actual article I found that the word currency never appears and the headline about currency was added by the other website. A meeting about putting the world financial system back together isn't about instituting a single world currency.

So based on what you found but didn't examine closely the fact remains Beck lied.

MissSCD -> RE: Glen Beck mentions 1 world currency (10/10/2008 9:38:39 PM)

You probably won't believe this, but I really like Glen Beck.  What he is saying about one world currency is prophecy being fullfilled.

I don't agree with everything Glen Beck says in general, but there's no doubt in my mind that a one-world government with a one-world currency IS the endgame of the powers-that-be.

"The world urgently needs to create a diversified currency and financial system and fair and just financial order that is not dependent on the United States."

The quote is from the reuters article on the topic of a new currency. It was reported on 9/17. However, I saw the same report occur in different venues over a week later. So depending on where one read it, one could misconstrue the actual date.

You can watch Sarkozy call for a New World Order if you want. Perhaps you can call him a liar too and tell him he really didn't say it. I could give a shit less about New World Orders, but I don't think the debate is about one or not as much as it is about the uttering of such things and when they were uttered.

And while no where does an angry Chinese diplomat jump up and down and rend his hair while screaming we need one world currency, that sentence up there could damned well be read as calling for one. I would assume in the "create" department we would be steering away from one that currently existed. I hate mincing words but since this seems an exercise in mincing them, then dice away.

But, go ahead, cling to your rabid liar crap. It's really all you have in this debate.

DomKen -> RE: Glen Beck mentions 1 world currency (10/11/2008 12:00:45 AM)

You're still reading stuff not there. Saying the world should do business in a different currency is not a call for a single world wide currency. It is a call to get OPEC and other big international trading operations to do business in a currency other than the dollar. You simply can't find any actual statements by any government advocating a single worldwid currency.

As to Sarkozy's speech you are apparently flat out making stuff up. Calling for a new order in the world does not begin to mean creating a single world government or currency.

StrangerThan -> RE: Glen Beck mentions 1 world currency (10/11/2008 4:04:37 AM)

I'm making nothing up.

I watched both videos in the interest of ascertaining who was lying since you were so adamant about it. Beck said, France called for a New World Order. What anyone else said here, what any other link said here, is beside the point and goes beyond the question of his veracity. Sarkozy did in fact, call for a New World Order.

As you noted in a previous post, most of the links related to the concept of a single currency stemmed from the Reuters article and occurred prior to Beck's statement. Those people did something everyone does, including you at times and certainly something everyone in broadcast news and opinion does, which is infer from a statement what that statement actually means.

Financial double-speak is common. Anyone who ever listened to Greenspan talk also more than likely saw the dissection of those speeches by journalists. To insist someone is a liar because they infer something from words on the topic is to insist every journalist who ever sat down and puzzled over similar word mazes were liars. Greenspan was the king at walking around a bush to get to the other side in ways that left anyone following confused at how they got there. This is nothing more, and the action is nothing new. It's not about lying. It's about looking at the elements of a political statement and visualizing the outcome from it if it were enacted.

"The world urgently needs to create a diversified currency and financial system and fair and just financial order that is not dependent on the United States."

Can easily be seen as a call for one world currency as it does not say we need to use the yen, Euro, ruble, rupee, peso or any other currency already in existence. It calls for the creation of a currency. The scope of that statement is not localized to any given area of the world, but global in its intent - which makes this entire debate more about interpretation than lying. Politicians and diplomats know they have to couch intent in terms everyone will accept. They're also quite adept at pointing your attention to one aspect while doing the dirty work behind your back. It's how we end up with legislation enacted for our safety that really lets government listen to your every day conversations and how laws  are created ostensibly to trap credit card abusers but in reality nail a hell of a lot more elderly people to the wall for having to charge drugs they can't afford than punish actual abusers.

You nailed it!  For years we have had politicians wanting the USA to bow low to the United Nations, one of the most corrupt institutions on the planet.  "One world order" is the ultimate end game...
"Liar, liar, pants on fire"..is ok for children to scream out as some have accused Beck.  It may be true,  but adults should back the claim with facts and discussion. Life is not a "true or false" quiz...you need to attempt to prove your statement.

bipolarber -> RE: Glen Beck mentions 1 world currency (10/11/2008 6:16:08 AM)

Oh, I'm not just calling him a liar. I'm calling Beck a worthless waste of skin. A racist, anti semetic cretin. A gay basher in a three peice suit. I'm calling him a despicable, foul smelling peice of human filth.

Of course, that may just be his "on air" personality. For all I know, he might be as cool a guy as Allen Berg was...  but you sure can't tell it from his show's content.

JumpingJax -> RE: Glen Beck mentions 1 world currency (10/11/2008 8:28:12 AM)

Thank you to those that came to my rescue here. Glad I'm not alone here.....

As I showed I fairly easily pulled to links one on France and one on China. I didn't point blank find a quote that said they wanted 1 currency but there is enough chatter to show that it is something being pushed. Anyone who does a Google search for "Global World Currancy" will find plenty of web sites for it. Such a concept it scary.

As far as Glenn Beck being a liar - I go back again to the fact that he is on CNN. It isn't Fox news, it's CNN. I can't for one minute believe that if Glenn Beck was pushing lies on his television show day in and day out that CNN would allow him to stay on their. Especially considering the views that Glenn Beck holds.
