has anyone noticed the exchange rate is back up???

FUCK!!!

1.19 canadian to buy 1 US
1.33 US to buy 1 euro

this sucks...and why is it going up and not going down??? is it because of the 700 billion?

The 700 billion is certainly not the cause, it is a result of what is causing the dollar to become worth less and less.

yet for the past year or so the canadian and us dollar were worth the same...now the us is back to being worth more...ohhh the pain of online buying is hurting me now...sigh...as long as it dont go up to 1.64 like it was in 2002!! YIKES.

i hope it doesnt last long...i plan a trip to the us next summer...exchange rate to high will prevent that.

Not to worry. I'm sure our money troubles will drag the value of your currency down with us... it's just a matter of time.

thats my point...how is your money worth more when this crap is going on? it should be going the other way around...80 cents not 120 cents...for a dollar.

Sorry to point it out to those whose greatest wish is for the dissolving of the US - Be it ever so mocked and ridiculed; there is no better (more secure) place for capital than the good old US of A.

Of course we're moving more and more to a more social direction where that won't be the case. Note the 'trial balloon' being inflated regarding US Government ownership of financial institution. Yup - the same Government that's never successfully run anything. The answer regarding any subject to the question; "how can it get any worse?" Involve the Government.

Edited to add another colorful metafor...

The global economy may sink like the 'Titanic', but written on the bow where Jack & Rose are hanging on the railing will be 'USA'.

Actually a strong Canadian dollar hurts us more than us "US tourists" think.  Our manufacturing/labour industry depends on a lower Canadian looney...which in reality is good for us canucks and enchances our "social benefits" eh....  While Merc may have a point on the "good ole US of A".............the bigger they are, the harder they fall.......particularly when they lack any humility.

I hate to tell you but....$1.33 against the Euro (as opposed to $1.59 barely months ago) means the dollar is becoming more valuable against world currencies...not less.

Touche!  Someone who understands the difference between a STRONGER dollar versus the Euro and $Cdn
and a WEAK dollar.  Those people who think that a dollar going from $155 to $133 vs the Euro and 133 to 93 against the $Cdn  is weakening must have missed that class in currency valuation.

I hope all those outside the US are not hurt by the change in the value of the dollar...BUT..as a  St Louis native I am happy with the change. The InBev Budweiser deal may bite the dust...Even if it doesn't the greedy  stockholder bastards that sold out their country will take a hell of a hit.

Damn if the Dollar to Euro ratio keeps going the way its headed..maybe Anheuser Bush will buy InBev...what a hoot that would be.

Maybe it's because religious people blame God for their own actions?
