I don't agree with your thoughts on the motivation, P-one, but the demographic polls show blacks oppose gay marriage at a higher rate.  The expected big turnout for Obama will probably put 8 over the top, and into the CA state constitution.

Your free to disagree, but since you do not live in Florida your thought just might not reflect what has been going on here.

W. James Favorite, pastor of Beulah Baptist Institutional,  "I am offended at the suggestion that the plight of people who engage in certain sexual behavior is anywhere near equivalent to the struggle of black men and women in this country who suffered and many died for simple equality."

It has been a constant theme from the ministers of several large African-American churches that gays and lesbians deserve neither the rights or protections that they have fought so hard for.  They've been willing to repeat it for anyone they can get to turn a camera on them.

I still wouldn't agree but I could understand if they stated their religious beliefs were the reason they gave.  It saddens me that a group who fought so hard for their own rights would so easily step on those of another.

No.  I live in CA, where the issue is also on the ballot, and gay marriage has been legalized by the courts...

OK, and?  I know it is on the ballot in CA as well as here.  The question is how does it being on the ballot in CA allow you to tell me I am wrong about how people in FL are campaigning?

Ah.  I see.  You are assuming that spin and talking points are the same as motivation.  Hope you have more success with your 'no' vote, than I'll probably have with mine.

Hello Dom Ken,

I expect the struggle for marriage equality to take several years and be played out from state to state.  There will propositions and court hearings and judgments and lawsuits and all the usual fanfare.

Good for Connecticut!  Now if Californians can kick Prop 8 to the curb, that would be swanky.

I am glad you can figure these things out from the other side of the country.  How exactly is it spin, when someone gives the same interview several times and when asked to clarify he says, "that's what I said and that's what I meant"?

I wouldn't attempt to tell you how or why people are doing things in CA.  But please, youi feel free to assume away about how things are happening here.  We all know what that gets you.
