DarkSteven -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (8/27/2009 6:18:14 PM)

When I walked into work the talking head on the TV in the lobby was stating that 100,000 people die each year from obesity.

First I ever knew that obesity could be listed as a cause of death.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (8/27/2009 10:02:42 PM)

Actually, 100% of deaths are caused by cardiac arrest.  [8D]

Not obesity itself but ailments caused by obesity main one being what Lin mentioned, cardiac arrest.
Just like people who contract AIDS don't usually die from the disease but from another disease caused by the AIDS. (Think pneumosistic pneumonia)

I watched the sf movie The Final Countdown (1980) tonight, about the airplane carrier Nimitz being transported back in time to the day Pearl Harbour was attacked. The movie had no content at all!

My neighbor's crotch fruit who, when given a bookbag and school supplies this afternoon at our neighborhood picnic, threw the stuff down and said the bookbag was dorky.  I told her she was being an ungrateful brat, to which, her mother agreed.  [8|]

hmmm ... I would have to say three nasty emails from "doms" who block you so you can respond (and my response was actually REALLY nice too!!) ... but it's funny when you get labeled a fake and have been on this site for 4 years, met and played with people on this site and even met your husband on this site ... sighs ... I don't think it's good to read collarme mail after you're crabby from being sore from working out at the gym ...

I got this question right on a trivia challenge once.  All deaths are caused by lack of oxygen to the brain.

I think I borrowed crotch fruit from Kyttyn.  LOL... I like the way it sounds, too.

Thank you for the kind words about my picture.  You, too, dear lady, are magnificent.  [:)]

Cardiac arrest means that the heart has stopped beating which is why that is the cause of 100% of deaths.  The other diseases are not caused by the AIDS.  AIDS weakens the immune system so that opportunistic infections which wouldn't attack & kill a person with a healthy immune system, do attack & kill someone with AIDS.

*steps down off soapbox*

ETA:  I just read Cali's answer & I gotta ponder that one.  Which comes first, the arrest or the lack of O2?

Just like with smoking....

If you are a known fat ass or smoker, they tack that on in these crack pot statistics.

You could get hit by a city bus, but nope... he was a fat smoking bastard. Bonus! We can put him on both statistics!

Bloody wankers.

Gwynvyd -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (8/29/2009 9:39:10 PM)

woah.. took me a while to realize crotch fruit was not a typo.

Too funny.

What a little ingrate.

Geez.

Daddysredhead -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (8/29/2009 9:44:41 PM)

*giggles at gwyn*

No doubt.  It takes everything in me to not come unglued at moments like that.  I can't even imagine what my mom would've done if I ever said something like that when I was given a gift, much less threw it down in front of the person who gave it to me.  (I can only think that it would not have gone well.)  [:o]

(typo)

Your heart can stop beating, and you are not dead (being kept alive thru CPR, heart-lung bypass machine, artificial life support, etc.).  The purpose of the heart beating is to move oxygenated blood thru your body.  Once the brain is deprived of oxygen for a sufficient period of time, you die.

This just can't be the last thing I read before I go to bed tonight.  [:(]

*whew*  Thanks!

(Cali's doing damage control...  I can go to bed now, in peace.)

~ grabs a handful of bewbage, nibbles a lip or two, smacks that ass, and runs off to bed ~  [;)]

Ok, gotcha.  I'm thinking that if you're being kept alive by CPR or other measures, that your heart is still beating, but that's not true.  I've been in big trucks waaaaaay too long!!
