Aylee -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (6/28/2009 3:44:46 PM)

My eyes rolled today, when I was readding a thread and the OP kept refering to . . . I think the term would be "peers" . . . although I am not sure if that word really works in online situation. . .  anyway, she kept using "my dear" and "my dears" to address people.  Not only did my eyes roll, but I found it kind of creepy.

WyldHrt -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (6/28/2009 3:51:14 PM)

Agreed, Aylee. That OP referred to me as "my dear" as well [8|]

Well, my dear super boobs, it is probably because you just did not understand the power behind her caps key.

My dears, what lovely hooters you have!

What made my eyes roll today was when I was showering, and someone turned the dishwasher on.  My shrieks quickly got the dishwasher turned off.

What made my eyes roll tonight is the people who are trying to guess who is going to die next.

It just seems wrong.

purepleasure -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (6/29/2009 5:13:52 AM)

it was Fred Travelena(sp)

I seriously doubt that was anyone's prediction.

Ummm. . . don't the life insurance actuaries (however that is spelled) do that all the time.

wandersalone -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (6/29/2009 5:39:23 AM)

I agree with you Fluffy.  Even though I know they are joking I can't even joke about people dying as that is basically wishing grief upon their family and friends.  I could never dislike anyone enough for that

I have to disagree here. I wrote in that death thread too.  It was not that I was wishing death on anyone.  Death makes people feel uncomfortable, and joking about it is a type of catharsis.  I would never truly want to see someone die, and it is true that death is always sad,  but I am not going to shroud it in an artificial holiness that keeps me from laughing, albiet uncomfortably.

Me too. I can find numerous subjects to speculate or joke about, but someone's death isn't one of them.

Ditto, except it doesn't make me uncomfortable.

Maybe I've an important bit missing somewhere in my brain. I've never understood the weirdness people have with death. I get that the dying process can often be a motherfucker but death itself is, to me, a release. I've often times been relieved and even happy about someone's dying. Even people I've loved a great deal and miss. I see them being freed.

Perhaps it all comes down to our own individual perceptions of death as to whether or not we are squicked by other's attitudes.

Cuz seriously, I've had more eyerolls over the preachers and pedestal hoppers due to this subject this last three days than I probably had in the...whatever time....since I joined this site.

my eyes rolled when I opened the yahoo homepage and the vultures just HAD to point out in a blurb that he was bald at the end.

I mean, c'mon, that was like that day long ago when K.D. Lang said "I'm Gay".

and we all whispered, "Uh, KD, sweetie, we kinda figured it out a while back."
